Would Carlton fans take pick 9 this year for him? Potentially giving back a 3rd or 4th in return.

Carlton fan here. Had to register just to comment on this topic, its so crazy. I can't believe its 5 pages long.

I can't speak for all Carlton fans. But there is almost no pick I would want in exchange for Harry. I wouldn't take the crows pick 1. I'm not saying it's on the table. That's just an example. That seems like it needs to be clarified from my limited time on this forum.

I wouldn't trade him for almost any player in the competition. Matt Rowell I would, but he'll be coming home soon anyway. I wouldn't trade him for Fyfe. 2-3 more years of Fyfe vs 10 years of Harry, I'll take Harry. I'm sure there is other players that you would swap 1for1 though. Maybe others could name names...

So no, we wouldn't take Pick 9. I don't even like Harry that much

I think this one is a bs rumour, but that aside...

Carlton would rightfully want a kings ransom for a player of McKay's ability, potential, age, size and contract status.

Think Tom Boyd trade as a baseline. The Doggies gave up pick 6 and their captain.
Don't think it would be quite as big an ask as Boyd was given he was the most recent Pick 1, but do agree it would be enormous

Future first may come into play. We realise we’d be paying through the nose for McKay but Goodwin and Co realise jobs are on the line if we don’t make the eight in 2021.The wheels are in motion. Tom McDonald is being pensioned off to North (confirming intel I received two days ago) and Carlton are keen on one of Brayshaw or Viney to come in and support Cripps and Walsh in your midfield. We have a surplus of inside bulls, you have a surplus of forwards. This is where the synergy is.

“Simon Goodwin was asked after the club’s final game where the Demons’ list needs to improve for 2021, and suggested they would target mature-bodied forwards.

“We are still a team that is working really hard to connect forward of centre,” Goodwin said.

“Today was really pleasing. We got some opportunities and we took them. Mitch Brown and Jayden Hunt have provided something in the last few weeks and Sam Weideman has provided something for us. We are down to one tall.

“Forward of centre we are very young. Luke Jackson is waiting in the wings and will come into the mix … it’s an area we need to keep getting better at.”

Carlton can get mids from You without trading their best key forward. Can't see it happening.

Would you entertain letssay:

Viney + R1 pick 2021 for McKay + R2 pick 2020

Viney is a very competent inside bull. 12th in comp for contested possessions this season. Fearless, former captain. If you want protection for Cripps inside moving forward look no further.

That’s a very fair trade IMO.

Viney is a free agent.

I think the most important thing for people to remember is the uncertainty of draft picks.

Harry looks like a future star. Whatever picks you'd get in return, you could only hope the drafted kid turns out as good as Harry, so why bother trading him in the first place?

We wouldn't. It's a good point you make; most of this is fuelled by that poster I now know to be a huge troll and many have given up responding to, including myself.

I take your point earlier about the Boyd comparison, but honestly think it would take that kind of trade. That is on the huge and unlikely hypothetical that McKay wants to be traded and Carlton agree to entertain it, him being contracted and all.

This thread should be closed, Dont really understand the purpose of creating a thread about a player thats contracted and has no intention of leaving his club whilst getting very very good money.
Melbourne traded away the best key forward they've acquired since Gary Lyon ending any premiership aspirations they might have had and are desperate for an easy fix to their mistake, while North supporters are just desperate for hope.

I have no time for the Demon supporters but I have sympathy for the Roos. I've been there.

They had very good reason to trade him and i think thats been proven but Melbournes recruiting over the past 15 years has been probably the worst of any club

Yes, but that's logical and supporter arent always logical about this sort of thing.

I think you know we've been worse. Before SOS we were horrific. Since SOS we've had one great year of drafting and mostly ok otherwise. We just happened to pick up 3 likely Elite KPs in that one year.

Starting to show the goods after having to bide a bit of his time in some very ordinary reserves sides.
Right now he has all the attributes you'd want from a key forward in our side, apart from an above average midfield in front of him.

There is no way Carlton will trade this bloke.

He is in the young age bracket (at 22) they are building their list around with Weitering 22, Walsh 20, Fisher 22, SPS 22, Setterfield 22, O’Brien 20, Dow 20, Curnow 23 ect..

If they are over stocked on key forwards its more likely they’d trade the 30 year Casboult

Good post. I am not surprised other clubs are making contact. I'd want my club to do the same thing but I can't see Carlton entertaining a trade while he is still in contract. We do need to resign him ASAP but Harry might want to delay and see if he can up his contract by having a strong 2021.

Don’t think you need to sign him ASAP, there is no reason why Harry would want to leave Carlton.
