Harry Taylor pranked Josh Jenkins by slipping a piece of ham into his palm before shaking hands

I can only think of one Jewish player in the AFL. Todd Goldstien.
Can you imagine if Taylor pulled that prank on Goldy?
Think Cotchin, and Steinberg, too (not sure if Steinberg's still on Ess list) are Jewish, no?

He played quite well too. Maybe it's his lucky ham slice? I hope he didn't throw it away, he might need it to run around with it in his shorts for the rest of the year.

Harry and the Lucky Ham, coming 2017. Based on a true story.

Why am I picturing Homer with his month old salad roll stashed under the bed as I read your post?

I wonder if Taylor will hand Bachar Houli some ham before the game in a couple weeks.
The ham to Jenkins fits in well with Australian humour - bit of fun at someone who has had food poisoning/hangover etc.
Ham to Houli would be straight up religious vilification.
Followed by bad look for the game
Outrage
Sorry press conference
political correctness debate
Fines
more hoohaa ... sanitising the game / personality etc
If he handed Houli a revision mirror so he could see who was hanging on behind him, I'm confident Houli would see the joke.

People questioning whether he would have done it with a Muslim or Jewish player - the answer is obviously no. The reason he (allegedly) did it on Friday night is because Jenkins had gotten sick from eating ham, but a devout Muslim/Jew wouldn't be getting sick from eating ham in the first place.

As for the prank itself - kind of funny and very weird. In other words, classic Harry Taylor.

I think Harry is 'getting in Jenkin's head' for the finals, should they meet.

Jenkins will be wondering- "Will he give me ham, will he give me some other foodstuff, does he have it here already" etc.

Just a wafer thin slice of irritant, something at the very back of Jenkin's mind, a teeny tiny distraction, an echo of the gastro he suffered.

harry has clearly been reading 'The Art of War.'

For those thinking Walker made it up, here's what Jenkins said...

“He shook my hands and when we separated there was ham in my hand-- probably 25gms worth from the deli. I don’t think it was smoked. I wasn’t getting too close to it… I was going to throw up.”

Jenkins went down with food poisoning last week after eating a bad ham, but he was still baffled about the motive behind the prank.

“Stuffed if I know. You’d have to ask him,” he said on FIVEaa radio.

“I’m not mates with him, I barely know him. I’ve never even really had a conversation with him. He’s a different cat.”
