Ross Lyon as coach

That's ****ed

Congrats to Rosich and Harris for ****ing up the Fremantle Football Club

Time for them to do the decent thing and **** off

Hahaha knew you'd be in here sprouting your usual "STEVES!!" vitriol, but do you seriously not rate Lyon as a coach?

Extremely ruthless by the board but he is an immediate and significant upgrade on Harvey. Emotions shouldn't hinder the ability of a sporting organization to make changes for the benefit of the club.

I'm told a small working group review convened over the last 4 games highlighted the need for a more tactical and defensive game day coach. The original idea was to just recruit an assistant, but discussions changed to sounding out some targets.

It had nothing to do with the medical department.

I reckon if we're winning no-one here will give a shit!

I do! Harvs has rebuilt the list, given the team a great game style, has the club on track towards a flag, had the year from hell and this is how Fremantle has treated him. And this is how the majority of supporters accept it and embrace it? I can't support a club like that. F*** one of the reasons why I embraced this club in the first place is that it wasn't a soulless franchise.

I can't believe this. This is gutting. Poor Harvs

Totally and utterly suprised. Very strong statement from the club. If the rumour is true that we got Ross Lyon then I am even more suprised and excited. The man took a bunch of boring players to 2 (3) grand finals. We have an exciting group of players so very keen to see what he can do with them.

really suprised about all the negitivity. you can't all be mark harvey.

can someone please make a rational, well explained argument for why this is bad for our football club?

So you're happy seeing Fremantle's gameplan turn into a dour and defensive one with 60-59 scores the norm then are you?

Commonsense isn't something the Fremantle sporting organisation seems to have at this present moment in time either

Here's the way it should be

If we DON'T make finals in 2012, Rosich and Harris should do the decent thing and resign

Agree that if we start winning a lot of games everyone will embrace Ross Lyon. I do believe this is a big move by the club and it is better to make a big move then no move. On sports news first they are claiming that Harvey has been talking to other clubs about moving out. Hope all is explained at the press conference.

I HATE watching St Kilda play but I am a bit excited I must say.

I think the big winner here is Lyon. Gets the top job at a club with a great list in St Kilda and spends his time focusing purely on the short term by topping up on recycled players and not playing kids. They go close a couple of times but don't quite get there, time runs out and their window closes.

Before any repercussions he jumps ship to the team that have been the exact opposite in recent years, and in my opinion have been the most impressive team in the past few years with turning an average list into a promising young list with plenty of young players who now have 30+ games at the top level under their belt.

Extremely smart by Lyon and equally harsh on Harvey.

If the Eagles fail to win their final Saturday, the Dockers will have performed better than the Eagles over the last three years.

(Just putting it out there).

If he can get more out of Duffield, Ibbo, Johnson, Walters etc. then it will be a good thing for the club. The fact he quit the saints shows he must have some confidence in the list

Exactly. Thinking about it, if he can take the Saints to 3 GFs then imagine what he can do with our list? As we are learning there is no sentimentality in the AFL.

Was it Harve's decision to delist the 5 players the other week? If so, I would speculate that there has been an incident between then and now if he was somehow in charge of changing the playing group.

A few names have been mentioned and I'm hoping for Lyon, but what about Mark Williams? I heard he wasn't staying in Sydney.
