Harvey gone

Are we masochists? Seriously are we suckers for pain? I don't think I've ever been so f***ing angry with a decision this club has made before (I was in primary school when the Damien Drum mid-season sacking occured so I wasn't as livid).

And now it's between Eade, Craig and Lyon? The Iron Fist future killer, the sports science 'always a bridesmaid, never a grand final' freak or the bloke who looks the other way whilst the culture of the club (which had just been raised to premiership level and that who expects consistent success) gets pissed up against the wall?

If it's any of those three, well, I'd probably just lose all faith in our club if I haven't already. I'd find it hard if not impossible to care. This is just shattering.

Couldn't disagree more. Harvey's performance this year, from my POV as a supporter, was well below acceptable. He's paid the price.

It's about ****en time we stopped accepting mediocrity. I previously thought Rosich was a complete and utter arseclown. I'm now prepared to accept that I may have been wrong about that.

If the Eagles fail to win their final Saturday, the Dockers will have performed better than the Eagles over the last three years.

(Just putting it out there).
Not exactly something you should be hanging your hat on, considering we were the wooden spooners in 2010....

Talk about low standards.

Excuse the involvement. Although Harvey had a rough run with injuries this year I've never rated him as a coach. Was passed over many times before he got the nod from you guys. You've done very well if you've got Lyon. With your list all up and running a top four finish in 2012 isn't out of the question.

So you're happy seeing Fremantle's gameplan turn into a dour and defensive one with 60-59 scores the norm then are you?

Commonsense isn't something the Fremantle sporting organisation seems to have at this present moment in time either

Here's the way it should be

If we DON'T make finals in 2012, Rosich and Harris should do the decent thing and resign

There's no guarantee this will happen, our list is completely different to the Saints list. And having a defensive minded coach isn't the worst thing, if we are winning 60-59 then yes I will be happy, because we will be winning and that's all that matters.

i honestly feel so conflicted about this. personally i liked harvey, but lyon is undeniable quality.

wouldnt want to be a saints fan right now though. god knows who they'll have coaching them next year.

robert harvey by the sounds of things.

Harvs has rebuilt the list,
given the team a great game style,
has the club on track towards a flag,
had the year from hell and this is how Fremantle has treated him.
And this is how the majority of supporters accept it and embrace it?

1) Lloyd and Bond re-built the list. mark harvey's contributions were Mark Johnson, Kepler Bradley, Dean Solomon and Adam McPhee.

2) A game style that saww us finish what, 14th, 14th, 6th and 11th ?

3) The gap between the premiership coaches and Harvey was massive IMO.

4) Which he contributed to.

5) Proud to be a Fremantle supporter today, great move IMO.

because Woosha has won a premiership, made the finals 7 years out of 10, and finished top 4 this season, while Ross Lyon has done what exactly...

A point or so from Woosha winning a premiership and Lyon a point away from winning one. I'm sorry but that a point is not the difference on a coaches abilities.

Although I'm not argueing on who is the better coach ;)

And Lyon had nowhere near the resources Woosha had.

I just can't see a negative side to this.

There's a thing called the Fremantle way of playing football

When we were up and about last year and winning games, did we win games playing attacking or did we win games playing dour, defensive bullshit that Lyon is renowned for?

We won games playing attacking and that is what Fremantle as a club should stand for and Ross Lyon is completely opposite to what Fremantle should be about.

I want to have excitement watching Fremantle, not dull sleeping moments which Lyon surely will provide.

It is a decision that will cost us, that we all know

Hell it's cost us money from paying out Harvey which means less money for football department/medical staff/facilities.

Terrible decision all round

Never liked Lyon at St Kilda and I doubt I'll like him at Freo either.

I will happily support the players but I won't be supporting the coach unless he earns my support and I certainly won't be supporting the twats who run the club and really should be told to **** off

What a great execution. I'm stunningly happy. This is the sort of club I want to belong to. A club which sacks a coach after a season of injuries. The players will be feeling just great now. Well Rhys Palmer will.

Maybe he'll bring Brett Peake back with him....

So now that he's coach, do we keep Walters & Pearce?

About the only good thing about it is that we aren't getting Sumich.

You'll probably get a red card soon so I'll engage while I can...Woosha had arguably the greatest midfield of all time at his disposal and all he could manage with it was a 1 point win against the dour Swans. Stunning.

A better indication of his talent would be the wooden spoon he picked up last year, Ross Lyon has none for comparisons sake :thumbsu:

You may want to watch attacking football, I just want to see us win.

At their prime, I wouldn't say Riewoldt, Goddard, Hayes, Montagna, Dal Santo, Milne, McEvoy are ordinary.

What do you mean "at their prime", pretty sure McEvoy is a young ruckman who still has plenty of potential to fulfill.

Saints were carried by a handful of stars who were able to temper the fact that their bottom 6-8 were very ordinary.
