Talk is cheap. Wouldn't surprise of a backflip. I've heard many things come from officials / coaches mouths one week and then the reverse happens a week later. Only way to get the underling FACTS is from Boomer himself. If Boomer can't be tracked down to hose down this innuendo, then I'll be braced for a trade swap. Mighty Mick wouldn't post stuff like this if he thought it wasn't worth worrying about.

No offence to MightyMick but you're not seriously believing that Laidley would entertain trading Boomer for McGough and Obree, two player types we have absolutely no use for. It's the mention of these players that makes this rumour sound completely fictitious and one from the Collingwood board's wish list of things that will never happen. Presti and pick 7 is plausible but unlikely but McGough and Obree is worse than laughable and any source that suggests this is,well, lets just say wrong.
Certainly not suggesting Boomer couldn't be traded if the deal was right just that any deal suggested has to at least sound right!

im not the only one posting socalled harvey trade rumours on this board, and maybe woodson just knows me better than you with the accuracy of other stories in the past.

until trade period is over we will not know who won the rumor mill raffle, many things change between now and the end of october, this time last yr we were all settling in for j rawlings to be a roo:confused:

none taken, ;) rumors and trade talk doing the rounds can change at the drop of a hat, the boomer not bbeing happy part is for real, and remember was nearly lost to carlton last yr. i dont want boomer to leave either but if his attitude aint with the program let him go,

Hmmm, based on that I'm not convinced with JYD's comments ?? actually, that has NOTHING to do with faith. If I didn't have any faith in JYD or the NMFC, I'll be damned if A/ I'd bother coming to BF B/ be a passionate and PAID UP fan for over 26 years !

Stick that in your faith pipe and smoke it !

he does, it is called Australia

I wonder if the possibility of some Footy Show work is discussed with any players being enticed to Collingwood
not as silly as it sounds as dennis has warned fevola off of media duties, and will not have a bar of footy show appearances for him.

Whats so funny about McGough and O'Bree? When Laidley was at the Pies McGough won the ANZAC medal and O'Bree was still playing alright footy. Maybe Laidley saw things in them that he liked and wants them at the Kangas. PS:McGough is not as bad as eveyone thinks it's just that he can't break into a midfield with Buckley, Burns, Woewodin, Licuria etc ahead of him.

So what makes you think McGough will break into our midfield? Playing alright footy two years ago doesn't say much for O'Bree.

Go Roos

Pick seven, assuming that's the pick, could theoretically net us a classy midfielder like Monfries (really high on this kid), but is that adequate compensation for a proven performer in Boomer? I'm not too sure it is.

Would you trade Chris Tarrant for our first round pick, Ash Watson and Troy Makepeace?

Ash Watson was a first round pick from the strongest draft ever, and has had a fantastic year at Port Melbourne. It's just that he can't break into a midfield with Simpson, Grant, Boomer, Harris and Wells etc ahead of him.

Makepeace is also a good footballer, particularly when you look at his last couple of seasons.

Get the picture now?

Don't know what to think about this one. Remember there were whispers about Choppy getting traded a fair while before he actualy got traded, so it's impossible to discount these sorts of things as just rumours.

However, I don't know about O'Bree, McGough and a draft pick. Always wary of deals in which we get 3 things in return for 1. It implies to me that the things we are receiving are of inferior quality. I'd rather we trade 1 for 1. Quality for quality. Schwass for Grant comes to mind.

Anyway, unless Boomer really wants out, there is NO WAY he will be traded. Instead of just spouting off messages on a football message board, let us all perform a visualisation exercise. Imagine that next year comes around and there is NO BOOMER at NMFC. He's not at training and he's not in games. Now honestly unless the bloke literally said "I want out", I can think of no reason why we in our right mind would trade him.

Hmmmm?

Wouldn't be the first time a player and coach aren't exactly in lurv! Many of us heard, on radio a week ago, Laidley say that Boomer is the most important player on North's list. Didn't sound like he was at all interested in trading him.

what would you do if you wanted top dollar for a player - announce to the rest of the world he's crap and ready for the erubbish dump or that you didn't care whether he stayed or went? off-field tactics are just as important as match day strategies

too true youd have clubs trying to get him like flies on a cow pat, and with too many clubs interested youd get one of those 3 way deals, your better off with a 1 on 1 quality player swap,

McGough is sooo limited it's funny. Slow, rubbish kick, crap overhead and cannot play on a flank a wing or a pocket. The desperately homeless, alcoholic and HIV diagnosed man's Daniel Harris. Laughable.

O'Bree doesn't warrant a whole sentence. Poo.

Neither fills a gap we need filling.

As I have said before, if Harvey showed the SLIGHTEST hesitation in commiting himself to North, I would throw him into trade week. If he is 100% with the club and the coach, I would keep him no questions asked.

Well that certainly heated up!

Harvey is an A-grade player, admittedly a bit out of sorts, but I think it's just about getting his head right. O'Bree and Mc Gough are B-grade.

Harvey played well for Pagan, so what about Whitnal for Harvey?

I would say if Lance could get himself focused, and he might in a new environment he would be A-Grade, a good replacement for Sav after 2005.

Ottens looks like he wants money and finals, maybe two things we can not offer in the short term.

This is the position most reasonable people would probably adopt. Let's hope our match commttee is made up of reasonable people.

But one thing that scares me around this time of year - Laidley has that bit of unpredictability about him. Thursday night lotto is an example. McKernan trade is another example - not necessarily illogical, but not what most people would have done. I hope we don't make any big calls this time that would come back to haunt us. I would rather not trade at all as I don't see any solutions to our most obvious needs in the trade pool...

Whitnall, mcgough, obree?!?!?!? if we're gonna trade one of our guns at least make it for someone worthwhile and not bloated redheads, stumpy-legged duds who couldn't kick it out of the goalsquare.lets go for a real gun instead like rhyce shaw or at least try and talk clive waterhouse out of retirement
