Just a quick curio, is Harvs the record holder for most number of coaches played under in a career ?

By my reckoning, he will have had 7 over 20 years.

Surely that's some sort of a record (dubious) ?.

Darrel Baldock: 88-89

Ken Sheldon: 90-93

Stan Alves: 94-98

Tim Watson: 99-00

Blight: 01

GT: 01-06

???: 07

+ Allan Davis (filled in for Baldock for 2-3 weeks)

I imagine Burke and Loewe would be at least equal

Did he knife Blight, or just Alves? I can never remember.

Hird, along with everyone else who's only ever played at Essendon in the last 27 years.

he'd be up there as a player who has played the most games solely under one coach though

i dare say a few other bombers might have him covered though

I think Billy Picken wins this one.

I'm sure some Collingwood and Sydney fans can help out with who his coaches were, I just know that he had a lot of them.

I'll have a crack at this one:

Neil Mann
Murray Weideman
Tom Hafey - twice!
Mick Erwin
Ricky Quade
Bob Hammond
John Northey
Leigh Matthews

That's a fair few!

There must be over 2000 players easily who have only had 1 coach in the AFL.
not the brightest spark are you ...sure you aren't really a pies supporter ??
ok lets see you name a few players who have played the same ammount of games as Hird under the one coach .

Collingwood’s coaches around the Picken era:
72-74 Neil Mann
75-76 Murray Weiderman
77-81 Tom Hafey
82 Tom Hafey & Mick Erwin
82-84 John Cahill
85 Bob Rose
86 Bob Rose & Leigh Mathews.

Picken played from 1974 – 1983 & 1986. That covers 7 just at Collingwood plus whoever coached him at Sydney.

Sydney coaches from their website:
1984 – Quade/Hammond
1985 – Northey.
That rounds it out at 10. All up he played for 15 years. The man was a jinx.

HERE COMES BILLY!
