Classic Bigfooty. A sample size of one game.8 Disposals and 1 goal on a friday night game.

Hey?Classic Bigfooty. A sample size of one game.
Interestingly the coaches just voted Buddy the league's MVP by 9 votes to Dangerfield's 7.
Not the AFLCA award. Just the coaches' survey they run in July.Hey?
Coaches votes have Dusty ahead of Danger,Buddy not in top 10.
To be fair, Carey is now 46 years old. I think Franklin is better than he at the moment, but we will probably never know unless Carey is playing a Teddy Whitten match or something..8 Disposals and 1 goal on a friday night game.
Yeah hes gone past Carey
So the coaches don't have Buddy in the top 10, have Danger 2nd, yet they vote Buddy above Danger. Not the AFLCA award. Just the coaches' survey they run in July.
Yes and no. Purely on this season Buddy isn't the MVP but in an overall sense when you look at a mix of career and current form, then you can make a case.So the coaches don't have Buddy in the top 10, have Danger 2nd, yet they vote Buddy above Danger.
Do you think that's a little hypocritical?
If it is career sense, then they probably would be right with Buddy and Danger, but why would they not rate GAJ?Yes and no. Purely on this season Buddy isn't the MVP but in an overall sense when you look at a mix of career and current form, then you can make a case.
Oh he might have done the girls part but we know he never kicked 100.You sure about that? Whatever the King wanted, he took it. Might still be racking a ton up every year.
Different criteria I think. One is tracking performances on a week to week basis. The other is a gut feel "which player is the most valuable to have on your team". Bud certainly not the best player this year but still handy in the eyes of the coaches. So the coaches don't have Buddy in the top 10, have Danger 2nd, yet they vote Buddy above Danger.

Still doesn't make sense though, because when asked which sort of player most needed, most voted inside mids.Different criteria I think. One is tracking performances on a week to week basis. Yeah. Get your point.Still doesn't make sense though, because when asked which sort of player most needed, most voted inside mids.
Damn, one quiet game has ruined his career.8 Disposals and 1 goal on a friday night game.
Yeah hes gone past Carey
Reminds me of the Federer Nadal argument. Hard to say really.Don't know if you can be considered the greatest of all time if Tom Lonergan consistently beats you. Or maybe Lonergan should be considered one of the best key defenders of all time?
You're kidding, right?
Carey pushed on ball and into defence with aplomb. He was a natural footballer in every sense of the word, as good with the ball on the deck as he was with it coming at him in the air. Dual sided too and murdered it in the wet (pun intend ed?).
That's a fair question to be honest. Hard to really judge their opinions on a gut feeling opinion survey. If it is career sense, then they probably would be right with Buddy and Danger, but why would they not rate GAJ?

One thing buddy has over carey is durability.Interestingly, at the same age, Carey had a 7-disposal, 0-goal game against Sydney on a Saturday night in Round 18, 2001 - http://afltables.com/afl/stats/games/2001/121620010804.html

Carey was cooked by the end of 2001. All those contested grabs must have ****** his shoulders
