That's pretty damning. Carlton need to do a mini rebuild and get a new coach.

If they do it properly they may still be able to get McKay, Weitering, TDK, Walsh, Curnow, Cerra to be a part of something.

List management a nightmare and outdated - Harry McKay overpaid, Adam Saad over paid, Zac Williams over paid, Adam Cerra over paid, Mitch McGovern over paid, the list goes on.

Blues best chance was 22-23 but the game is past them and their best players dont suit the new fast paced game and Vossy isnt a coach that can teach them to play the way they need to.

Missing out on Houston will go down as one of the worst things to happen to the blues this decade I am sure of it.

Injuries to Curnow, Walsh, Docherty, Martin and others at important times closed their window. If I was the blues I would genuinely start the rebuild now before Tassy comes in or they are done for a decade.

With the ascendent young hawks already better than Carlton it is really hard to see where Carlton can go from here. No success from what was a great list, no money in the cap to get better and a new team coming in to stifle any rebuild.

I could be wrong, hope I am not, but with 2 wins in their last 10 against bottom feeder clubs its hard to see the upside for the blues. McKay may well be one of the worst coleman medal winners ever and they always play better without him.

Edit: TDK would be crazy not to leave this club for a payrise and a better chance to win, not to mention the horrible fan base that constantly abuse their players.

Carlton just have zero depth through the best 22.
There's high end talent stacked up the top, but the issue is that 15-22 is pretty bad.
I've been saying this for a while. Their list gets over rated from their very good top 5 to 6 players. Unfortunately for them it drops away significantly from there.

This the same Rocket Eade who has the all time record for most games coaches without a premiership?

Sounds like a guy id listen to!

Well, to be fair, that probably means he’s got a lot of experience with lists that have no depth and a severe talent drop off. So I’d actually say he’s quite qualified in this area.

Curnow would love to play on Lewis Young with the Hawks smalls kicking into him

Curnow couldn't even move.

Madness by Carlton to rush him out. Our defenders had a field day running off him. Battle was my BOG.

Carltons list reminds me of the St Kilda days of the early 90s when they had Lockett, Lowe, Harvey, Burke, Winmar and Frawley. A grade players but as an overall list after that it fell away pretty sharply.

They had a couple of seasons in the late 90s where they did well including a GF in 1997 but they never had a premiership list in hindsight. Too reliant on too few.
Carlton are the St Kilda of the AFL professional era.

The loser club that collects spoons and ruins careers.

Madness by Carlton to keep kicking long and high to Barrass and Battle, plus Sicily part time whose favourite thing to do is read the ball in the air from opposition kicks. Who did they think was going to mark the ball? Fev? Sticks Kernahan? Bizarre.

They lack big bodies too. Apart from cripps. Several times they had cerra and walsh going in for ground balls against newcombe and they lost.
Not sure about that. Losing to Newcombe is one thing but Carltons midfield is pretty elite for winning contested ball and being strong in the contest. Pretty much our only major strength as a team outside of the 2 KPFs when they're up and going.

To my knowledge this is the second time Voss has rushed back Curnow underdone. While Carlton supporters argue it may work, playing Cripps in the ruck is suspect. Walsh is injured a lot and looks cooked at 25.

Is Voss running them into the ground?
Weitering has also had issues. It's a fair question to ask.
