And can you believe there are some utter morons out there who think he's some sort of 'umpire's darling'? I had to correct a couple of Magpie ferals in round one who were sooking when he actually got a couple of miracle frees.

Is he the only player in the history of the game to get high contact in a marking contest so severe that it knocked a tooth clean out of his head, only to be called play on?

Yep and they wonder why we feel hard done by. Look at the Tigers game Whitecross gets his head ripped off well after taking a mark.....no 50m. Shane Edwards blatantly stages after a Guerra love tap.... free kick paid to Richmond......some Bomber bloke got a week for a similar thing but it costs us a goal.

What about Buddys and Roughead each pushing their opponent in the back in the last quarter for a mrak, Roughead's blatant throw in the last, Roughead's mark that should have been paid, a couple of Tuck throws. The umpiring was awful for both sides.....get over yourself

What about Buddys and Roughead each pushing their opponent in the back in the last quarter for a mrak, Roughead's blatant throw in the last, Roughead's mark that should have been paid, a couple of Tuck throws. The umpiring was awful for both sides.....get over yourself

I think there's a bit in this.
He seems to be led to the ball, working the defender under it (subtly or not-so-subtly), then crumbing it.
TBH I think he's agile enough to crumb it (more oftne than not) even when he's playing in front.

What concerned me about the article was the lack of balance.

We all know Buddy gives away too many frees, but not to indicate how many he has got in the same period showing the massive discrepancy is lazy journalism or a deliberate attempt to push a different agenda. Of course he is going to give away frees, we direct something like 70% of our inside 50's towards him, anyone in that many "plays" will give them away and get them in high numbers.

Buddy has been pushed up as the face of the AFL this season and since he hasn't gone as well as expected or has flaws the "tall poppy" syndrone is starting to show though. So too for Hawthorn, almost every journalist had us in the top 4 and a lot more sunk money into betting on us, that is why the odds were so short, at present they are all looking like fools.

What is the saying, don't argue with someone that buys ink by the barrel, they will always have the last word.

The best way to shut them all up is too win games we should win.

It's bullshit frees like that are ruining the game.

Stuff like that should not constitute a free. I couldn't believe that even the commentators didn't pick up on the blatant "dive" (for want of a better term) Edwards took.
