Geelong has vg record at Etihad too. So will be interesting contest-but who plays whom not locked in yet.

I think we will end up playing you guys in the first week. Its not 100% of course.

Neither do hawthorn or geelong !!

I'd certainly prefer to play at Etihad than Skilled thats for sure!!

Move out of the way for the big boys!

Im all for the Cats playing interstate finals at KP but do their fans realise that because of the limited capacity some may not get in as their would need to be adequate seats allocated for the opposition

Meh, life isn't fair and if you haven't won your right you won't get first priority.
Those thinking (Rohan Connelly included) that finishing 1st or 2nd will guarantee a MCG final are in la la land. The afl will place whoever they feel will be the lowest drawing crowd out of the 4 teams, which to my reckoning would be cats freo rather then rich port which would draw more then 60,000 at the G.

If the Cats get Freo I would be all for it being at KP in order to play three potential Melbourne games with Hawthorn, Collingwood and Richmond as the home teams at the MCG.

However if they get Sydney and Hawthorn gets Freo then I'm pretty much resigned we'll get shunted to Etihad.

Which is a joke.

I'm sick of money overwhelming integrity and what is right.

I hope, for the games sake, both Hawthorn and Geelong make sure they keep their games at the MCG, because you know, that is what they desrve and will atleast reassure us that the AFL has one ounce of integrity left.
Why do they deserve an MCG game instead of etihad? If either played much better at etihad then the MCG should they also be able to demand a game at etihad? Game venue will be decided on expected crowd and nothing else.

Thats actuall an unproven statement

Onthe other hand haw v sydney DOES draw more than 55 thousand

THIS year hawks v cats drew the biggest crowd outside the anzac game. Richmond fans will say thats because they are one and two on the ladder

That, my friend, id the ****ing point, they are the top teams AND they will draw the biggest crowd

The fact richmond last played finals when sheedy was a good coach is immaterial

Hey, the Pies and Richmond can have the 'G if we can play our first final at Kardinia Park! ;)
would that be against freo . makes sense and seems fair to me.
its amazing freo supporters whinging about where they have to play away games. the mother ####ers cant even fill up subi oval in a booming two team town.

Poor Pussies and Hawks. What it fails to mention in that erudite Victorian way, is that Sydney and Freo will have to travel, even though they finished above all those clubs that it mentions.
Tough t***ies to Geelong & Hawthorn.

You do realise that you get a double chance and you will get a home final, right?

(Unless the annual WA rugby game stuff up means freo can't host in week 2 - if so, my apologies and commiserations. You'd think that they would have learnt from last year)

"Due to the unavailability of the MCG, the first qualifying final between Hawthorn vs Sydney will now be played at ANZ Stadium during the Sunday twilight timeslot"

"Should Hawthorn lose this match, they will host their semi-final at Etihad Stadium the following Friday night"

Can potentially see this happening.

Shh, don't give them ideas... They will sell it as a novel way of reducing greenhouse emissions and allow Buddy to try his AFL prospective role as an AFL ambassador in Sydney over that week...

Yes, but only once the Hawks and Cats drew over 80k, the Tiges, Pies, Bombers and Blues have done it 3 times each.

I, and I imagine most other Geelong supporters, would be delighted if it was wet and we played at the 'G. I'd far prefer a wet weather game than a dry one. Suits our gamestyle better. I'd be pretty pissed if it was raining outside and we were forced to play a dry Etihad game due to greedy fixturing.

Obviously never played a game of football in your life

Wrong. First and foremost the game should be integrity and keeping the competition fair an just. With you logic, I'm sure you wouldn't mind giving a couple of p'ships and to Dogs and Saints. Their fans have been eager for one for a while and remember, it is all about the people

Such things are not in our control and the AFL do their best to at least give them a chance at winning one. How close do you think the saints or dogs would get to a flag if we didn't have a salary cap? That is a rule for the people and so is this.

if it transpired that a QF is GEE vs FRE, and an EF is RIC vs PA, then expect the yellow and black army to travel across town to DS for their first final in 12 years.

There are questions of fairness but the AFL have spent years sacrificing blonde virgins to the footy Gods in the hope that the sleeping Tiger would awaken and roar. The stripey tufty tailed beast is at last swaggering about in September just when uncle Andy needs him with the Bumblers threatening to implode........The Mighty Tigers in the Dome? No sir. The Tigers are the story.

Hawks and Cats should let the other four play at the MCG it's like their Grandfinals they won't be moving far past there
