Hawks and Cats shunted because of the Big Four?

Doubt it. Not with Collingwood playing on Sunday the week before finals. Assuming they finish fifth or sixth, they'll almost certainly be the Sunday MCG game, just like Hawthorn will almost certainly be the Friday MCG game.
No, as mentioned, the Freo Semi has to be in the Friday due to a scheduling conflict, so if Collingwood are in the same half of the draw as Freo, they will not play a Sunday EF (which would mean a 5 day rest).

A little rich of Hawthorn to be shitty at (potentially) having to play a few kilometres west of the MCG when they don't bat an eyelid at playing home games hundreds of kilometres south of the MCG.
Not related to the topic. Etihad is not our home game and more important than that, it is shit.

you only believe your a better chance playing at Etihad Stadium because under Ross Lyon, Fremantle have only ever played the bottom sides at that particular ground.

The only team who was of any quality was Carlton who themselves have been terrible this year.

I'm sure you get the same kinds of arguments re: your record at Skilled and the usual ladder position of the opponents you play there. And I'm sure you think those arguments are cr@p too (as you should).

True to a degree, but we beat North last year at Etihad when they were flying. Comfortably. So that last statement is bull. Saints weren't a bottom team last year either.

We're still 5-0 at Etihad under Ross though (North, Dogs, Melbourne, Saints, Blues), and I've actually watched those games... not sure if you have. Our structures do hold up better there.

As for our form at the MCG, we beat Richmond last year (when they weren't doing great), and beat your lot last year. But apart from that we lost to Richmond this year and Pies last year. 3-2 record (Richmond, Cats, Melbourne) - (Pies, Richmond). Not much to reassure us there, except for last year's EF performance.

yes we would but that's completely irrelevant to my post which indicated Fremantle only play the teams sitting outside the top 8 at Etihad Stadium which obviously helps you to secure wins and make it look as though you have a terrific record at that ground.

Where does it say it's a home state final and not a home ground final that everyone keeps banging on about?
Common sense, at least in Victoria. MCG is the preferred venue. It is home ground to 4 teams (?). Etihad is the default finals venue.

Black and white logic eh? Well North were in the 8 when we played them at Etihad last year. So were the Saints. You need to restate your argument.

Lyon has a pretty good record at Etihad as well. Different team I realise. But he has probably figured out a few things that work well there over the years.

Believe it's all delusion if you like. I'm pretty comfortable that it's not.

I'm not saying that we'd have that kind of record if we played 5 top 4 teams there over the last two years. But we do play better there than most would expect.

Lets say a ticket is $50 at Etihad x 45,000 = $2.25 mil
So make it a $65 tix for Kadinia x 35,000 = $2.27 mil
Vlad gets his money (which is what this is all about), Geelong get a home ground final as reward for finishing 2nd and more Freo fans can save themselves the expense of a flight & hotel to watch their team get smashed.
How many Freo fans will actually travel to Melb to watch the game when the next one will probably be at Subi since they'll have a second chance? 10,000? That leaves 25,000 Cats fans to attend.

Everyone else can watch it on TV where the AFL can charge double-rates for betting agencies to 'sponser' the broadcast.
If Vlad thinks this through.....

Demetriou's pay cheque - $1.35 million salary plus $850,000 in bonuses, including a "loyalty bonus" for staying at AFL House rather than taking up a safe Labor seat in federal parliament or becoming a chief executive elsewhere - is nine times the average AFL player salary.

I think Geelong should be trying hard to get a final at their redeveloped home ground. Since Essendon is going to get trounced the team that plays them should play at Etihad. I doubt a Richmond Essendon game will even pack it at present. Carlton wont make it, it will most likely be Collingwood V Port. Should be at Etihad as well.
IMO it should be viewed from a tenancy perspective. Hawthorn, Melbourne, Richmond and Collingwood are the MCG's tenants, and should have priority over Docklands (Essendon, Carlton, W Bulldogs, St Kilda, North Melbourne) and Skilled tenants (Geelong) in playing a home final at the ground. If you want to play your finals at the MCG, play your home games there as well.

Yeah I'm not disputing that's the reality of it, I just couldn't find where it said anything about venue allocation for finals etc from the AFL.

Friday night: Hawthorn vs Sydney @ MCG

Saturday day: Richmond vs Carlton @ MCG

Saturday Night: Geelong vs Fremantle @ Simonds Stadium

Sunday day: Collingwood vs Essondon @ MCG

I'm sure Geelong would love a final down at Kardinia Park.

There we go win win.

Wow wee what a first week of finals that would be.

Those saying anything other than Hawthorn playing at the G if the finish on top have rocks in their head.

Of the 6 finals Etihad has hosted, only once were there 4 games on in Melbourne that week.

I think you will find that was because of contractual arrangements which have subsequently changed.

The last final at Etihad when there were less than four Melbourne games was back in 2007, and that was probably a scheduling issue as much as anything else with two Melbourne games on the Saturday.

Prior to that it was 2005, an elimination between the lowest drawing Vic side (Nth) and the lowest drawing non Vic side (Port).

So thats twice in the past ten years.

No, their reward is a "home" final and double chance. Do you want a 12 point head start as well.
Yes please.
That's the point - why wouldn't a club want any possible advantage? Isn't that why it's better to finish 1-4 rather than 5-8? And again, why it's better to finish 1-2 than 3-4? This is why I'm hoping the Cats win both their remaining games - I want every possible advantage for them, such as not going interstate...

That said, it will be Gee vs Fre at Etihad. Hopefully Saturday night, but I'd take the afternoon because of more recovery time.

Subiaco it is then.

Kardinia doesn't have a capacity of 35,000.
Haha. We'll give you a good run for your money anywhere- not the same outfit you faced last year. But I don't mind if your namesake misses the game!

If it's at Etihad I'd like our chances. Ross rarely loses at Etihad. It wouldn't be 'fair' for Geelong but fairness is hardly a factor when it comes to the scheduling of games in the AFL, full stop.

Geelong has vg record at Etihad too. So will be interesting contest-but who plays whom not locked in yet.
