Re: Hawks eye Skipper (Article)

Maybe we could turn him into a key defender
Bingo nail on the head. If ppl didnt have tunnel vision on this than they would realise that maybe just maybe we might pick him up to fill a void in defence?. Has the height and mobility and im pretty sure he played key position for williamston and not so much ruck so its not like he is wont know what to do. imo the bulldogs have wasted half this guys career because what i have seen of him he is underrated and is more than capable of being a solid player for us if we draft him.

I hope Nathan Carroll isn't the jealous type..

The Great Man doesn't feel envy. Afterall he has the world in his hands and, this is the important bit, at his feet. Simultaneously.

No, I meant I can see you might have found your skipper to steer you through the off season.

Yes we should draft Wayde Skipper.. as a back up ruckmen 2 Renouf & Taylor? Umm. No.. but we should still consider picking him up as a Utility.. Perhaps playing him as a pinch hitter in the ruck forward & back... not a bad idea IMO.. we should seriously consider John Meeson 200cm 100kg.. he is my #1 choice for our back up ruckmen :thumbsu:

Forget Skipper in any role, ruck, utility or otheriwse, its not going to happen IMO:thumbsdown:
I remember Rocket Eade on SEN describing Skipper last year as a depth player at VERY best and it would take the premature death of at least 15 others on the list to occur before he ever played another senior game at the Bulldogs.

As the article states we are vulnerable in the ruck division, not desperate. Skipper is a desperation pick only.

As it seems the Dees are going to re-rookie Meesen, we should use our last pick in the draft then snaffle him. Bryan is a spud A mature age rookie spot is cheap insurance. Throw that his way if we must.

I would go Meeson out of a plain Jane bunch, but i think he has the best up side. But have heard he is a tad soft.So i hope the surprise you talk of is surprising.I personally still like Luke McEntee but heard he was playing second in Adelaide somewhere

Although Meesen is my choice amongst the myriad of ruck options seemingly of interest to us, my understanding is the Demons delisted him for injury reasons and plan to Rookie list him in the hope of a late 2010 return?

If there is a surprise selection, I hope that we may have finally persuaded Brendan Lade to leave his new post as an assistant coach at Richmond, to play out one last season for the Hawks.

Wonder if those comments came back to bite him seeing as all they needed in the prelim was someone to take some marks in the forwardline and bring the ball to ground to the runners. No idea why minson was preferred in that role to someone like skipper, minson has played 1 good game in the forward line in his whole career.

Couldnt agree with you more!! Minson is an over rated player with limited skill! Skipper would be a great option for a pick up in the draft, for any club! Skipper had an outstanding season at Williamstown last year, winning the B&F and players B&F awards, a great result for a big player. I think he has alot to offer.

yeah spot on... he could just about play Ruck Forward & Defence & fill our needs.. better option then C.Cloke :)

After watching training this morning I can tell you Squizzy beat Skipper 15 - 0 in hitouts in a practice game type scenario. Taylor is clearly the better ruckman.

However, Skipper was quicker around the ground and even kicked a goal on the run. Taylor's skills were disappointing 2 clangers from 2 touches.

I still wouldn't get Skipper but we need something more from Taylor.
