Democratic societies are just ridiculous. If communism only reigned supreme Cooper would have to play for us.
I hope you all have a good hard think about this when you are next at the voting booths.
Comrade, you make a great point! I wish to join your revolution and end the tyranny of freedom!

Does anyone know if he’s actually apart of the Brisbane academy?
Yeah, he's in Brisbane's level two academy squad. He was also named in the bests (again) for Queensland in their win over Tasmania today. That means he was named in the bests in all four of QLD's U15 national championship games this year.

You'd have to say he's an excellent chance to be named in the AA team if he is named in the bests in all four games he's played for Queensland over the last week.
Confirmed today that Cooper Hodge has been named in the U15 All Australian team after being named in the bests once again in their game against NSW yesterday.

I'm glad he is doing well and hope he wants to play for the Hawks, but he might be interested in playing for Brisbane like Blakeys son has (syd) or how Marc Murphy joined Carlton over Fitz/Brisbane a couple decades ago, so I am happy for him, but unsure what it means for us at this point?

It means we better get Hodgey a paid role at the club before Cooper's draft year.

Worst case scenario (if his trajectory continues) we can just offer him a huge contract by rookie standards, ala Brisbane with Ashcroft

The FS tradition is one of the few left that's universally revered. Amongst his other plaudits, Luke was a four time premiership player, three time premiership captain and a two time Norm Smith medallist. All at Hawthorn. It would be a travesty if Cooper doesn't get drafted by us, he was born into the club & his dad is Hawthorn royalty. We'll be up & about by the time his draft year comes around! Like Ashcroft & Fletcher, that should be a massive motivator.

Would be hard to turn your back on the academy once hr has been in it for years and developed relationships etc. not to mention family and other friends in the state. I pray they change the rules by that time.

Hopefully Cooper stayed connected with his friends and family in Melbourne. Plus he'd be old enough to remember the GF parades etc he was in with dad.

This is a "if my memory serves me correctly" type comments. I've been meaning to say this for a week or so as this topic continues to be debated.

I'm pretty sure earlier this year when hodgey was providing special comments on a game, (dont ask me which game, not sure if it was one of ours or an opposition team) one of the other commentators was talking to hodgey around the state of hawthorn and how we were travelling this year.
They then asked about hodgeys family and they continued to query who the kids go for these days.
I believe that hodgey said that coop was still a mad hawks fan due to having grown up witnessing all the premierships and was not effected by his playing time with brisbane and that there was no way he would convert from being a hawks man. Even with the way we were travelling this year.

I wish i could clearly remember which game this was so we could dig it up on kayo to finally resolve this conversation, but alas it was a very short conversation on one of many games.

I really do hope my memory serves me correctly, because if it is we could have a possible future AA player on our hands.

absolutely agree, the intent of my post was to give people confidence that its more than likely cooper is heading our way and to end further discussion here.
My post count indicates I'm not that familiar with using the forums and was replying to a post that agreed with hodgeys own sentiments.

Anyways, to get back on track.

I think McCabe will be a Jet and I hope that Like Finn Maginness he slides a few picks and we get a bit more of a bargain than something in the mid teens.

From the comments on Dear, he could be a smokey rookie, but as others have said we need to delist some rookies for that to occur.

Havent seen enough comments about Ned maginness to think hes going to make it onto a list at this stage. As i reside in adelaide all i have to go on is whats posted in here by others around dear and maginness, which I greatly appreciate and have consumed this entire thread for.
I just prefer to lurk and read and only say something when i think it has value.

So bring on more news of the 3 youngsters, hopefully they all get drafted somewhere, but the reality is its a highly competitive market now and its tough for anyone to make it. Good luck to them all.

As it seems that this thread is just going to be continually bumped with people questioning whether Hodge will select Hawthorn or not as a father son in 3 years time I’m going to lock it as that's not what this thread is for.

If you’ve got anything you want to add to this thread, that is not about whether Cooper Hodge will choose to join Hawthorn or not, PM me.

FYI, Hodge played the straight bat on the question Ian Healy asked him on SEN Queensland this morning to the Cooper Hodge father son stuff. Basically said its way too early to talk about it.

Made an account for the express purpose of posting this, but was told by a very prominent ex hawk that “if cooper hodge ends up being drafted, it will only be to the hawks.” Can’t name which ex player, but he is still involved with the club and family.
Come back, any time!
