Anyone think Dylan Moore could switch to the wing next year? I think he has the physical attributes as well as the footy brain to do really well on a wing.
We’ve needed his goal scoring ability in recent years but assuming we draft Watson, plus the additions of Gunston and Chol, I think we will have enough to put on a decent score each week.

Plays that high half forward role where he gets up and back and is able to link up nicely.

Would like to see him stay there.

Moore comes from an athletics background so would be in the top echelon for running at the club. Looks to have some speed on the field.
Agree but doesn’t have the acceleration to be a career winger.

Agreed, he doesn't have the pace or athleticism IMO to become a full time wingman.

He's one of the best HFF's in the league, and we know he can be effective as a midfielder and also playing deeper forward. But the role he plays is quite specialised and very few players in the league play it well.

Personally I'd prefer our wingmen to be excellent athletes (Weddle, CJ, Ward) and/or have excellent skills (Amon, Ward).

I do hope we leave a spot open for MSD. Good to see BH Hawks start off with a talent ID program, hoping we unearth atleast one gem from here for MSD
I think we're passed needing roles filled via the MSD. Would rather start the season with a full list, and if we get an injury take a pick that way.

Talent is talent, we should always go in with the option if the right player falls our way.
What if the talent is still there with our last ND or rookie pick?

Why leave a spot open if the talent can be taken at the end of this month?

I know we don’t have the generational talent in our midfield and Reid would give us that but is he better then two more top 5 talents on our list.
Depends on whether we believe he is the last piece of our midfield puzzle, I guess?

Personally, I'm with you. Take best available at 4 (5) and hold onto next year's first and wither use it to trade for someone or take best available again. If we trade it this year, I'd rather it be for a Pick 7/8 type thing if someone slides that we really like.

Happy to hear that. It’s the sensible approach.

It’s possible we could rookie list someone like Ethan Phillips anyhow - can’t we?
SSD, I think. Not sure if that takes a Rookie or Main List spot.

Newk and Day could absolutely be generational imo. Depends on how you want to use the term. Mostly it's used in retrospect when analysing a player, which means that their accomplishments will always be quoted. Newk racks up brownlow votes and I can see a world where he wins one or two. And Day has already locked in a PCM and would be short odds to grab a few more. If we win a couple of flags they will go down as "generational".

As good as our three-peat mids were I don't think any of them were given their kudos until after they retired except Hodge, and he didnt' play FT midfield in any of our GF-winning seasons.

In the context of discussing Reid, I consider ‘generational’ to be our assessment of his talent (ie what are we prepared to give up) rather than looking back on his career in retrospect.

In that sense, I am wondering if Reid is, for example, Franklin or Cyril level of talent that can transform our side?

(Not a dig at Jai and Day. They could end up having exceptional careers, but Jai was a mid season pick, and although a high pick Day was not hyped like Reid).

Funnily enough, for as long as I can remember our premiership teams have always been stocked with A grade players that don't play full time mid. And I can't recall there ever being a full time mid win a Normie for us.

It’s a moot point eagles knocked back our best offer. I’m rapt to take 2 high picks in this and next years draft someone like Finn O’Sullivan looks great as the last complementary midfield piece. We add someone like Duursma Watson Curtin C. O’Sullivan plus McCabe and dear this year and a POD mid then we only really have KPD (if we don’t take COS) and small defensive forward to solve for. If we keep our future first I’m happy to pass on McKercher as good as I think he will be. Feel like with the differing draft profiles we must focus on outside the square talent.

That's a big assumption. I personally think we should be trading out next years first. I think it will be valued more now than at the end of next year. Plus another years' development into a top kid would really fast track us.

Agreed.
Would prefer another shot at a KPP or Fwd this draft than the 10th best midfielder next year.

I agree with this. I can't help but wonder at times if the top 6 or so in this draft look so good because the next tier is so shallow. It means they are almost never competing against players who would challenge them to play their best at all times, making it somewhat more difficult to assess exactly how good they really will be. Having no opportunity to watch in person, I absolutely defer to those who have.

Yeah, probably.
Hodge definitely turned out better than Dowler and Thorpe combined, who we took in back to back drafts at pick 6.
I'd throw in Xavier ellis in there just for laughs. So that's 3 top 6 picks!

If you have the conviction that Reid is the difference and not just hype, and you have the chance - you take it.

I’m also ok to trade our f1 (presuming we can get an f3 from somewhere) for someone like O’Sullivan or curtin this year. I’m just saying Harley is out of reach unfortunately and if we get a POD mid next year that’s good too. Unlike Brant I don’t see us spiking next year I think it’s a year too early, which is fine I am enjoying the rebuild. We might pass freo not sure who else we think is due to drop significantly. We can always follow the dees lead who until the Jackson bounty kept trading futures into the current draft.
