This post hits me in the feels 😔

I still maintain whatever we got in exchange for Scrimmers wouldn't be fair value. He's a real talent.

Although if AC is on the other end of it we could actually do okay for once?
Any compo for losing McKay as a free agent should be used in a trade for an experienced player (that’s if they are given a first round draft pick as speculated)

No better time to revisit this thread than after a bad loss.

Kosi - not getting a game at this rate pretty much says it all.
Maginness - can't work out why he got the nod last week.
Morris - I rated his performances pre-injury but don't think he's showing enough.
Serong - had a good week in the VFL apparently as a KPD. I think we'll persist with that.
Long - I don't think he'll make it. I have a feeling this year will be his last.
Jeka - lack of exposed form this year and KPP depth may grant him a lifeline.

Wingard is the age old question. Word is we love him around the club so wouldn't be surprised to see him sign on for another year in a mentor capacity.

Scrimshaw another interesting one. I like him and think he can offer what we need when used correctly but definitely seems on the outer.

The ruck conundrum needs fixing. Meek subbed out last week and Reeves this week. These two together just aren't working.

I would keep Kosi over Jeka.
Can we give Wingard an off field role? Can’t have both he and Breust in the team. Or you alternate them as the sub each week so you only take up one spot in the team.
Long gets another year for me. Heart and soul player. Or make him BHH captain.
Serong has class. Scrimshaw has talent.
Lynch, Jeka, Wingard, Finn and Morris get delisted for mine. That leaves four spots on the list. Three for the draft and one for mid season draft.
Our two rucks are OK. Ramsden has to play every week next year with one of Reeves/Meek in the VFL along with Tucker.

There were 70,000 people at the MCG on Sunday and every person there could see the Hawks were crying out for a second Key forward. You are right if Kossy can't crack a gig in the team now he's most likely done.

The Wingard one is interesting, Chad actually played okay on the weekend. If he keeps his form he could snag a one year deal on minimum chips.

Jeka might get a one year deal if Kossy goes but could go either way.

Reckon we’ll see a lot of the fringe guys get games over rest of season. Given our pretty clean injury list hasn’t been a lot of natural attrition to provide opportunities.

We’ll want to see serong as a back, give Ramma and Long another taste, last chance for Kosi and Finn, see what we have with stephens, Ryan, maybe HH etc etc.

It’s quite a large group - hard to see morris getting a look and Jeka seems constantly injured.

GWS probably beat us this week and with Sicily back vs north we’ll give it a real crack. But after that hard development mode.

With 1 decent pick and McCabe and recent large list churn I wouldn’t be cutting hard. To me lynch Maginness Morris wingard are the 4 keep all KP players until we have better. Even if we secured another good pick that’s still 2 plus McCabe and a rookie.
FYI, Lynch spot is taken by Ryan. So that is only 3 delistings. Hoping 2 more spots open up via trades for picks that can be used for points or GC trades.

Mods, Can we pls pin the below linked post, so we are clear on who is OOC at end of 2023. Here is a snapshot.

We have a contract thread at the top of the board for reference. This post on the draft board is not always correct or up to date.

I can see there’s a bit of jumping at shadows happening here.

Cleary hasn’t said anything different to what West Coast posters have put on the draft board “ if he wants to go home, the Eagles will be very interested”.

We could potentially lose him for nothing in the psd if he wanted to go to West Coast.

Whatever will be will be. If he is desperate to get home for family then help him get home because we will hear the same stuff every year.

Nobody wants to get to west coast at the minute unless you are really homesick!!

He either commits all in, or we shake his hand and let him go .

From everything that i have seen and heard the kid loves it at hawthorn. He has been really happy about the support he has received in pre season and in the season to help with his personal situation. He is pretty happy here. He gets along well with all the players and chad has mentored him especially early in the season. I just dont see him leaving

This is consistent with what I am told, but the Indigineous lads and their involvement with family is interesting. I have been told he has agreed to re-signing but who knows ?

Yes was told he was invested in the team. Likes sam as a coach and likes the environment and his team mates. All things that point to him re-signing

Worpel signing on the dotted line? On fire for beefing up a contract.

Those shadows people are jumping at...
If he did decide to leave. His worth would be a fascinating discussion point. Does he still hold the ties via his personal PT with Geelong?

Hope he stays though. He is the inside work horse every team needs. His game on the weekend as well was exceptional.
