I don't get why some people seem hell bent on chasing Chol. Where did all this come from? Is it because he kicked a few goals against our seconds?

Mostly. See also the one week obsession some had with Khamis from the Dogs when he kicked a bag against Box Hill

My g
I did a google search and found it in draft guru, draft guru is wrong and you are right.
Zero hangar confirms what you have just said.

Still only leaves us with 4 picks so we will need to get at least a couple more picks come draft night.
My guesses is pick 34/39 from WCE for Brockman as a pick. Then 45 from Richmond for Kozi and hand that to the scum for Ambrosia. ATM. waiting to see if anyone else moves on .

All four of those players are not very physically developed though.

As a cohort they are at least a couple of years away from being big enough to compete with the likes of May, Weitering, etc.

Still think we need a bigz strong unit as back up to Lewis which is why we need to chase Chol hard.
Do you think Chol is a big strong unit? Plays like he is light as a feather.

Here's Version 1 of the state of our list for 2024! :) I have done this for the last couple of seasons so thought I'd crank it out again.

Some notes:
  • I have based all contract lengths off the info currently in our own Contract Status thread.
  • Brockman and Kosi I just chucked straight in the 'delisted/retired/traded/FA' box because they are 99.9% gone, if not more.
  • Newcombe I have auto-promoted to the senior list because I am 99.9% sure we need to do that this year. The other rookie listed players I have left on the rookie list and will wait for confirmation of any other upgrades.
  • At this stage we will require a minimum of 3 and a maximum of 10 players to be acquired via some combination of re-signing (Greene, Bramble, Long, Serong, Bennetts), trade, free agency, national draft, PSD, rookie draft and SSP - looks like Massimo D'Ambrosio will be one of those!

As always, let me know if you spot any mistakes!

To be a stickler, Kozi isn't yet traded.

Kicked 44 goals in season just two years ago.

That kind of output would be huge for us.

Also having the ability to be a hybrid forward / ruck is very important to our structure.

Agree but we would need pressure around him as he gives none. Adding Mannagh would give us speed and pressure and it’s the year for butler to take the step won’t get a better chance to succeed. Another year under Breust tutelage on crumbing and positioning and more urgency to defend and he’s exactly what we need

Here’s my 2024 side.

Hardwick - Taylor - Weddle
Seamus - McKay - Sicily
Amon - Day - B.Smith
Moore - Naughton - Watson
Breust - Lewis - Curnow
Reeves - Newcombe - Cripps
Grundy - Worpel - Nash - Ward
Love it, but why trade a future 4th for Bontempelli and get Charlie Cameron for pick 86 and play them both at Box Hill?

He actually averages 9 pressure acts a game, which is pretty good for a forward. Remember he's 200cm.

As it stands we only have 3 picks and they are 3, 22 & 77.
Obviously we will get picks for Brockman (if he doesn’t walk to psd) and Kosi but they could be future picks.
I could see us taking unders for both if we are given multiple picks in return.

We will also have to deal for Massimo

I can’t see us delisting many if any more players when we don’t have the draft picks to cover for them

I thought if we have 6 spots we qualify for 6 picks, but Theyed come in very late rounds.

Obviously we didn’t delist these three to get really late picks, and ohara a rookie anyway. Something else will happen

Thanks mate - This should be pinned

Without giving much away - Bramble just bought a fairly big ticket item that I wouldn’t have thought a bloke without a contract would have splashed out on. Make of that what you will.

Because we have no options after Lewis that have proven they can kick goals at AFL level.
Simple as that really. Our forward line sucks and our second most proven tall forward (who is no good) has requested a trade out. In addition the two specialist ruck experiment didn’t work and we looked best with just Reeves and a forward/ruck, which Chol can do

3 votes mate. Excellent work.

Morning lads and ladettes.

I’ve been a fan of Jeka since his U18 days… what’s the deal? Sad to see him go, not bothered, happy?

Only 22 and 198cm… great hands… excellent footskills for a big bloke… I know he had some (sub-par) aggression issues, and some problems with injuries, but is he worth a look at as KPP depth?

I think it speaks volumes that our biggest need is a KPF or KPD, yet we've still managed to delist him.

Whispers he doesn't show enough endeavour or application to make it - but hopefully this kick up the backside provides the impetus for him to reevaluate things and make a go of it somewhere else.

So if it’s not a talent thing, he’s worth a punt on as depth, surely?

Depends on who you ask. Some considered Jeka to be the most amazing talent not in the AFL with a disposal by foot that was delivered with tactical precision 100% of the time. Some were more balanced and felt that his attitude and workrate weren't quite up to AFL standards desptie his obvious talent.

I don't know anything about Jeka personally and this view (and others shared) have been purely based off what's been intimated on this board - but would you rather punt on someone less talented but applies themselves 110% or the inverse?
We’ve got a pretty solid backline, and a rookie in James Van Es who’s built like a brick shithouse and an absolute mongrel.

I think we’re in a spot to have a gander at him.

Can he ruck at all, if he’s asked to play fwd/ruck?
