Gunston literally robbed of five free kicks in front of goal.
I have never seen a player EVER get so mauled ...
I bet Horse subbed their full back off because he was freaking out that the umpires might eventually give Gunston a free kick ...

I have, Buddy for the past 9 years.....seems to get a better run these days however

What an absolutely cracking win. Against all the odds, one of the best H&A wins I can remember from the club.

AND NO INJURIES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thoughts on a few players:
- Lewis, Mitchell, Hodge, Birchall, Burgoyne, Roughead, Breuuuuuuuuuuuuust: Stood up massively, all are great servants of our club
- Gibson: great comeback. Will only get better with match fitness and with his mate Lakey back in the team.
- Shiels: My Best 22 (http://www.bigfooty.com/forum/threads/updated-best-22.1070261/) the other day was wrong to have Shiels as the sub. He is definitely best 21.
- Suckling: not sure why people don't see him in our best side. You need a balance of different types of players and what he brings to the table means that he is definitely best 21 IMO.
- Stratton: Geez I love this bloke. Got absolutely smashed multiple times and kept going at it 100 miles an hour. Definitely best 21.
- Poppy: Another bloke that you have to love. Brings so much to our side.
- McEvoy: showed why we made the trade. Savage wasn't best 22 so it was basically a first rounder for an first-line ruckman. A great move by the club - a true win-win for Hawthorn and St Kilda
- Smith, Hill: were so important tonight. Stars.
- Langford, Simpkin: You've got to admire how much of a crack these blokes had. Not sure they have enough polish to be best 22 this year, but they are great depth
- Schoenmakers: Had a real crack and won some genuine 50-50's against Tippett. I'm not sure if he makes the team ahead of a fully fit Spangher, but it's very close between them and either of them can be relied upon to do a job.

Definitely seem to get a better run in a different jumper.

I hate how we are made to earn every free kick while the opposition most times barely have a finger laid on them and the whistle blows.

Is it just me...........?

$10 million dollar win. I'll be enjoying it for the next 9 years.

I think Ted Richards must have been given a "Bring a Mate for Free" ticket. Was a passenger when the going got hot.

More importantly, Judas went missing when we prevented their midfield from delivering it on a plate.

Roughie got angry. Contested hard.

Hodge. Mitchell. Lewis. Champions.

Gunston was absolutely mauled tonight. By his opponents AND the umpires.

Smith looks a 50% better player when Hilly is drawing some heat.

McEvoy demonstrated his revered "tank" after Ceglar was subbed. Gee that paid off.

Silk, Breust, Poppy, Litherland and Suckling all had moments of brilliance. (Plus the occasional brain fade.)

Woodward showed a few moments of poise in his cameo.

Langford looks better when he has a star to follow around. Did alright.

But was it my imagination, or did Shiels absolutely towel Kennedy up?

$tains fans in Sydney again proved they are classless twits with big mouths, no knowledge of the game

Great game. Great win.

Not bad for a bunch of witches hats...

Can't wait to see what we can do with a full list to choose from.

P.S. Congrats Woody on a successful debut, Big Boy on 100 games and Big Rough on the 200!!

GO HAWKS!!!!

I was going to post "Beaten by a bunch of witches hats," on the Swans board, but the mood there is so sombre or really angry,I didn't.
They lost because:
1. We had three extras on the field.
2. Their mids were sh1t today.
3. They had more outs thanwe did.
4. Hodge is a thug.
We are still piss weak and they will beat us in September.

But was it my imagination, or did Shiels absolutely towel Kennedy up?

No, it wasn't. Shiels, once again, played a top game.

In true Michael Tuck fashion, he played a great game when others also played a great game, so he'll be overlooked.

Breust 45 (3)
Roughead 44 (4)
Gunston 41 (1)

We lose the best key forward in the competition to another club and yet we are still by far and away the highest scoring side in the competition this year. Our ability to score quickly is remarkable.

Blokes with roles as taggers and defensive forwards did really well.

Our ability to continue to work harder as the game goes on is what has been largely impressive this year. Even as we've introduced new players, we are continuing to develop and improve our work ethic.

The coaches should be lauded for being able to identify and clearly communicate to the players what they needed to do in order to lift.

By and large - great win, but as Clarko said, we did not play our best. I think this augers well for reaching a peak to compete well come finals. Will be interesting to see what we do with Lale, hale, spangher, and cyril as we go...

Syd haven't left themselves any room for evolving as the team changes. They're stuck with a pretty one dimensional forward line for years.

And boy are they carrying some spuds in defence. Rampe, Richards, Grundy, Towers. Spuds. Flogs. Dead-set campiagners. They'll be All-Australian, mind you, but they wouldn't get a game at Box Hill.

... and yet they seem to think Goodes is a top bloke. What would they know? Just spoilt brats used to having everything their own way and don't know how to handle getting beaten by a better team.
