Um... winning?
So which ****ing club doesn't want to stand for winning?

As I said, it doesn't mean anything.

Ask 'why aren't they developing players'? Ask "why do they lose pressure games?" Ask "why do they seem to tire at the end of the year?"

Something people can actually answer.

Who gives a **** if a club says 'we stand for winning" Our identity is winning"? It means three-fifths of **** all to say, the same to ask it.

Heh. I wasn't trolling you, I was agreeing with you. But that's a grade-A rant, and I'm glad I accidentally trolled. :)

You're 'stuck' are you?

Buckley's analysis is excellent and he is everywhere on TV and radio. Simpson and Horse are popping up all over the place. 360 has past players and coaches on nearly every night and 360 in itself has become more analytical since Lyon replaced Robbo.

I personally dont mind King or Cornes and think they actually do a fair bit of research among the crap, but its not hard at all to find decent analysis. Easier than its ever been.
more analytic but not as enjoyable. Lyon was a terrible choice. The odd couple pairing is what made the show

Part of the fun was trying to make sense of what Robbo was saying.

"Y' see Gerard - oh! - it's about the vibe goin - mphh . . . and if Teddy Whitten could just see this, I mean, Gerard, it'd be . . . I mean, what the hell is goin on with footy boots anyway"

gesticulates wildly

For similar reasons I'm finding First Crack not as enjoyable because they used to have two thick necked, broad chested, opinionated fellas in King and Montagna (to simplify them more than a bit) plus Anthony Hudson. But now they've been joined by a similar kind of man in Jay Clark. He's fine but I miss the contrast. They need a good media nerd with subtle humour to balance them - Hudson was excellent, someone like Kath Loughnan would have been great, just needs that contrast.

He is too much of a journo .
It worked last year because Huddo/Dicko would chim in every now and then, but would let King/Montagna do there thing and guide the show along .

Clark so far just talks too much and even sounds like he is chasing stories and drama. He might get better as it goes along

Yep, I agree. It doesn't come naturally for him to sit back but maybe he'll learn how to.

Sam's press conference. For once the AFL have the reporters miked up so you can actually hear them......

...except for the dog which does it's best to drown them out. Then there's the truck.....

Who was the stupid person with the dog? I hope it wasn't any BF posters because if it is I'm asking for a ban from the mods.

There must be dozens of former coaches or assistant coaches who could be paid to share that kind of knowledge with us. How criminal it is that we're continually stuck listening to Cornes and King as the self appointed "best analysts in the game" talking about crap like whether Tim Taranto is an a-grader, or Adem Yze's aura.
Yep, the talent pool outside the media is huge! But nothing compared to the ego pool inside the media. 😂

Honestly the idea that this is our most exciting team ever is odd. I'm not even 30 yet but 08 and 12-15 we were probably better than we have been so far this year.

To be accurate, he didn’t say it was the most exciting team or the best team or any of the other charges being leveled against him. He said it was the most exciting brand of football he’s ever seen. Our boys master it by the end of the season and they may actually be both the most exciting and best team ever.

No one moved the ball better than our 2012-2015 team. Parko has memory problems.

We could say the same thing about our 80’s team as well, as our kicking was off the charts. Especially with players like Darren Jarman, Pritchard, Platten and others.

I think this team has the ability to surpass the 2012-2015 team with their skill if they haven’t already. There is no greater example than the Ambrosia kick to Day. He kicks Under the Carlton player’s arm, straight on the chest of Day 50m away, who then passes with laser like precision to Gunston, who then passes to Watson, who kicks a goal from 40 out. Another example was MacKenzie’s kick to Ward. So I tend to agree with Parko on his assessment. Our kicking has evolved for the better.

Yeah it doesn't compare to Franklin, Rioli, Breust, Puopolo, Gunston, Roughie, Smith, Hill, Hodge, Burgoyne, Mitchell, Birchall, Lewis, Gibson, Lake, Stratton, Big Boy, etc, etc.

That's the core of threepeat winning side that was arguably the most skilled team (by foot) ever, and won by putting up big scores.

Parkin also placed Mitchell in his top 5 Hawks ever, and while Sam should be put in with the very great's of the game way more often, that was still on the the more generous side given the names we have. Parkin is a father-figure talking about Sam like a son he is so proud of. Given their relationship and him being his mentor for so long, I'm not surprised he is seeing Mitchell in the most positive light.

I watched a Hawks v Bulldogs game at Marvel during that time and the Hawks basically played keepings off the whole game. The Doggies players were getting visibly pissed off that they couldn't get the ball back 😂. Some insane amount of marks to the Hawks at the end of the game.

The kicking skills in those 3 peat teams was off the chart, I've never seen the like before or since.
