There is absolutely no way in hell his career survives this.

Fagan doesn't get a lot of mentions in the article but I'd be surprised if he escapes unscathed too.

He will be fine, the AFL tend to be able to protect the people they want to. They will just announce a huge funding increase for indigenous programs. Outside someone like Caro, none of the media will go hard for Clarko or Fagan.

Yes thats what I said.

Its what all journos do when rushing a story to beat their competition.

BTW they released a completely one sided story. Is that good journalism in your eyes?

We have no idea the foundation of any of the claims nor do we have any response from anyone accused. Again, is that good journalism ?
You keep swinging at the journalist if it helps. I want no part of it.

Log off mate.

Amid all this debacle. Watch James Hird slide into Essendon DMs and say hey I wasn’t that bad now was I guys , let me coach

How there’s a lot of terrrible people in high up places in the afl. So naïve as a kid. But once you hit adult hood. You realise how corrupt people are

Well according to Jordan Peterson, 3% of the population are “psychopaths”, and then there are the “sociopaths” as well, so if that’s true, we’re talking one in every 20 or so people you come across on average are one or the other.

This is a very bad hill to die on mate. Reminding me of Pies fans who went after the academics who did our initial Do Better report rather than the content within.

I wonder if this stuff was rampant, and happened to the non-indigenous players as well. I only ask because I'm assuming that only indigenous players were interviewed about stuff like this for the review. Could be the tip of the iceberg with others coming forward?

At least there was no racism i could see (this is the slimmest of silver linings).

The founding is your own bloody report.

What an insane take this is- the article clearly states that Clarko etc didn't respond. As others have said Jackson is one of the best

How long were they given to respond? Were they told not to respond to any media until after the report is released? Are they speaking with lawyers because they are going to sue those making the allegations?

Its a one sided story and how many here already made up their mind? We have no idea what is true.

Also, we have no idea if it is true and was even more widespread.

Absolutely shocking details.

Makes you reassess Buddy leaving and Rioli retiring early, even brad hill leaving (not suggesting they are the players named in this), obviously a toxic environment for indigenous players.

On the flip side, Burgoyne played there for how many games?

A lot to play out I imagine.

Don't blame the messenger, we've got form for this shit.

What’s happened basically mirrors the stolen generation. Separating families, destroying relationships, isolating indigenous people. Yes there’s no slur calling, Adelaide/Collingwood level stuff but this form of racism is more institutional and arguably far more insidious.

Perhaps not overtly, but comments about the suburbs players lived in not fitting in with Hawthorn’s image read poorly to me

That report was looked at when complete and when all parties had an opportunity.

It hasnt happened yet with this report. People have rushed to opinions without seeing everything.

I would argue that an institution pressuring termination of a players' unborn child or pressuring a player to end a relationship on account of said player being indigenous is about as racist as it gets.

This is just false. The report has been commissioned by your club, and now completed. Involved parties no longer at Hawthorn have declined to comment, but will likely have to in whatever investigations are the result of this.

This doesn't seem like a rushed story. Jackson does investigative pieces.

Hawthorn commissioned First Nations consultants to learn more about their experience at the club...this raised disturbing historical allegations. This story is the allegations.

Log off mate.
He's just the classic Bigfooty poster.

Happy to swing at other clubs at the drop of a hat whilst claiming "I'd say the same if it was my club," but the second it's actually his own club, "Guys let's wait for both sides, let's not go to early, journalists integrity must be questioned."

Happens everytime there's a scandal regardless of the club.

Burgoyne was an established player with over 150 games

So we’re most of the players you mentioned, when they left.

The question has to be asked, if this was widespread, the leadership group and Captain would have been complicit in these types of things.

Leaves Mitchell in an awkward position as well.
