The fact the lifeguard complied with that request should tell you something.

If you think (based on any evidence? I don't know) that a kid's partner or family are detracting from his football, cutting him off from his loved ones is the opposite of what a club should do. The family needs to be supported.

Not excusing the Hawks at all but There’s some salary cap/structural issues at play here though. Fringe afl players on rookie deals, I’d have to look up old CBA’s but it could be 60-80k can’t afford to relocate families. And clubs are somewhat limited, they clearly can’t be funneling payments through families.

We saw a real life version of this with Marlion Pickett when he was a mid season draft pick.

Clubs really are asking guys to chase the dream and sacrifice for that. That means they’re going to be away from family for a long period anyway.

Hardly a surprise a club looked at that situation and said ‘let’s tell these guys to ditch the girlfriend and start a new life’, a clean start will be easier

Truth be told we don't know. We only have snippets of the report and we don't know what years these events were at their worst.

If he was following a written policy that would tell me something. If it is a bunch of uncomfortable racists, then it seems to be more individual racism.

Yeah that's where this falls down. The lifeguard should have put a stop to it there, he doesn't have to confront Eddie, except to potentially point out the old bigots on the other side of the pool, and everyone continues to enjoy their day.

No i think hes implying that either he shouldnt have published the story without interviewing a bigger number of players (numerically ie interviewing more than 3 players) and/or he shouldnt have published it until those accused in the article had a greater amount of time to respond to the article properly. Either would have likely let to a more accurate and balanced piece of journalism. If thats what hes saying i can agree with him to a point.

Literally just posted a clip where he spoke about how indigenous people face systemic racism across a whole range of areas including health, justice and education. If you can watch those clips, actually listen to what he is saying, and your response is still "yeah but that isn't an example of systemic racism, just personal racism" or the like, then what kind of person are you?

ANd that's just speculation. You don't know if the report downplayed what they heard or didn't dig deep enough. For a journalist to get more info than a supposed independent review means the independent review wasn't a very good job.
