AFL Club
Hawthorn
Now I'm not for a minute suggesting Hawthorn is involved, but the news released today could have massive ramifications across a number of AFL clubs

Nobody really knows who or what clubs exactly are involved. I'm sure we've all got our fingers crossed that it's not us

Has anybody heard any news from the club?

If a club goes down, the code goes down. Imagine trying to convince the Tasmanian govt that sponsorship is money well spent. I can see all the letters to the Mercury now. Why am I paying tax to fund the drug industry? As soon as that press conference was held it became an issue for all the clubs. I know our board worked very hard to assure the tas gov and other sponsors that the Tuck issue was isolated.

Also, why does the ACC arrange a massive press confererence, and then just announce some vague allegations of crime syndicates and the like, thus blackening every sport and every sportsman.

If they have proof, just charge all the offenders.

It seems like they just want to create a media frenzy.

Just go ahead and charge Jobe Watson for taking drugs, and Tim Watson for being a berk.

I'd say they're just collecting all the evidence. They haven't released the full report yet, which is why I'm a little worried that Hawthorn could be involved, at least to the extent of some players

So, they announce that they are going to charge people BEFORE they have evidence?

I think it's just the ACC trying to blow its own trumpet.

Such a load of nonsense...

Anyone who thinks our club is immune from this needs to remove their head from their anus
As sad as it is, of this investigation is as tough and far reaching as its promising, it's a very good chance that we may become involved
And that is a good thing

ACC can release a report but their hearings cannot be reported. They are held under a legal 'cone of silence'
Saw today in the paper (Australian or Age) that Hawthorn was one of the only clubs prepared to respond to a question sent to all clubs asking what supplements they gave the players.
This has to be a good sign.
Whilst I'm not naive enough to think that like all clubs we don't have an illicit drug issue with some players; I would be staggered to think there was a performance enhancing drug issue within the club. After all Geelong have been beating us up with their stronger bodies for 5 years. :)

The only or were there others. Like anything I suppose you do the best you can and think your doing the right thing but you have no idea what's going on behind you - let's hope the club we do support is on the up but tbh after this off season I'm not throwing stones anywhere.

I'm not confident, not that i know secret dealings or anything however if you told me that whole teams were possibly doping and all i would of told you it would be 2-3 guys around the league running the gauntlet.

However as it seems whole freaking teams were able to live underneath the radar and the AFL drugs policy was a bigger farce then we could of ever predicted.

If anything remotely true has come out of this quite a few careers need to end and the hammer has to come down hard to scare away any guys willing to bend and break the laws

Nobody really knows who or what clubs exactly are involved? Really?

So why not 10 minutes after the report was released did some smartarse immediately claim that he had "mail" that the report detailed ...... you guessed it, Buddy Franklin missing games last year due to an AFL drug suspension?

I've had an absolute gutful of this Franklin "story", which has been around since 2007 in numerous forms. I honestly wish the club or Franklin would start pursuing individuals and start taking a few houses or keyboard off these rumour starters. Every time there's an article, someone has "mail" it's Buddy. DO SOMETHING HAWTHORN!!! Prove your innocence and attack these keyboard warriors head on.

He was talking about the performance enhancing drugs issue not the rumoured Buddy illicit party drugs 3 strikes bs.
