1) Haysman's complete transformation into a true Port club man.

Sunday morning and he's still answering emails. He might be going from the front office but he's formed too close a bond with this club to disappear completely. Assured me he'll still be poking his head in back at the club at after match functions and such.

This club has a habit of leaving a mark on all who touch it that not even White King could remove.

The optimist in me is hoping perhaps Haysie flagged these intentions some time ago, that he would wait until our future was secured and then move out of the job. And that Vlad's been lining up a Brian Cunningham to move back into the job.....or some such.

This is all I'm clinging to right now.

Just saw him having a coffee shop sit-down in the city with B Abernethy.

Keep clinging! :thumbsu:

What is bucky doing these days? Even though I would take it in a heart beat, at some stage we need to move forward!

As far as football administration goes Bucky Cunningham is Michael Jordan.

Magnificent business acumen, priceless hands-on experience of football clubs from player to CEO - the absolute embodiment of our evolution from suburban powerhouse to undisputed national champions - and lives and breathes Port Adelaide.

As unrealistic as his return would be, it would be an atomic boost for the club.

Who knows what little deals could be getting done at the moment. With the AFL apparently involved in the process of finding our next CEO is it entirely impossible Vlad's said to Bucky something like "You come in and steady the ship 'til you get to Adelaide Oval and Adrian Anderson's job is yours at the end of it"?

Yeah, probably not, but......

For me there was a bit of:

after Bucky's departure in 2004. We've been off the rails ever since. TBH, he probably needs to come in and tidy up what came afterwards.

I agree whole heartedly but when do we stop going back to the old firm? I would love him back though BTW1

Because it's a way better option than having a SANFL yes man put into the job, and Brian Cunningham is someone we all trust to do the right thing for Port Adelaide. We really need a steadying influence right now to consolidate all the good work done by Haysman. Someone to unify the club and the supporter base. We're fractured enough now, i shudder to think what a Whicker lacky like Keith Thomas would do.

Personally, i wish like hell Haysman was hanging around but that ship has well and truly sailed.

Did you actually read what I said?

Yep....

Though, reading my post back again i can see how it looked like i may not have.

Ok thaty's good

I'm not saying he isn't worth it and I know we always look back to our glory days and success but there has to be a time where we can appoint someone new who can perform equally well.

It's a know fact CEO's don't last forever, 10 year servants are rare and CEO's like to leave on a high point eg Haysman, Bucky even James, that was it's easier to find further employment.

But stability for us is the key, this will happen when everyone is on the same page working toghether.

Just to show the blame game never ends, according to the tiser Port were accused on a news service last night (I wonder which ten er one?) of financial mismanagement for letting Haysman go and having to pay out his contract!!!:mad:

Apart from who should be paying that bill, Haysman had yet again to point out the inaccuracy. He is on staff not contracted so any 'payout' is only his entitlements.

I'll put the idea out there again. What about Abba? Is it beyond the realms of possibility?

as much as I think he would have ports best interests at heart and probably not be an SANFL yes man, I just see abba as a "primus" appointment

what can he bring to the table that he hasnt already? We want this new CEO to assist with bringing in new revenue etc - Abba has had years to plug his contacts for this already.

I would rather bring in someone from outside the club (im only against thomas because the SANFL wanting him in makes me suspicious, but I would prefer thomas to abba) so that they can bring with them new ideas, new contacts and all else that goes with it

They spoke about that On The Couch on Monday night as in, "How can they (Port Adelaide FC) afford to keep paying people out?"

On a side night did anyone hear David King and Liam Pickering say that we had better kids than Brisbane before the game? I nearly fell off my chair.

People may have thought that about Dunstall and his appointment at Hawthorn.

But when you look at it, a few of those former Premmiership players stood up and said, right, we ain't tolerating this anymore and good on em, they drove the club back upwards.

We need some of our former players to do the same. We seem to have psuhed or outcasted so many of our former players (my general observation), they seem more intent on taking pot shots than wanting to help bring the club back up.

Liam Pickering the player manager steering the conversation no doubt and talking up our kids when no one else does for fairly transparent purposes. Ever dealt with a real estate agent who promises an inflated sale price ?

OK I'll stop this short digression here, but hey while not On Topic, it's certainly On Theme... the core of this thread and so many others on our board is a discussion of damage caused by intractable conflicts of interest.

On Monday night (On the couch) they said we are a badly run club as first we had to pay out Williams and now 18 months worth of Haysman's contract. WTF?

Well that's factually correct is it? Not to mention we didn't sack or terminate Haysman he's left so if it was contract based surely ge would be in breech and beyond compensation? Mark wouldnt do that to us though
