Still no acknowledgment of Bakes' clearance application on the HDFL site, either the secretary is on leave or something strange is going on

Lets hope its hoildays

Thats a strange one Doons, would have thought they would be on to any clearences quick smart as we are getting closer and closer to a season start.

Do you think perhaps the League might be hesitant on Baker taking into account the events of a couple of years ago?? I think that is all behind your club now by the way...but its just a thought.

I agree with what you said about the HDFL's ability to attract quality players though, it seems to get stronger and stronger each year. Lets hope that is a trend that continues for a while yet.

Would be expecting any more transfers to start coming in thick and fast over the next couple of weeks, as alot of blokes finally commit and sign on the dotted line. Any whispers that might help confirm this belief??

HDFLHawkfan, how'd you go agaist Serp? How did the new recruit 6"4 ruckman Chris Long go? Huntly are keen dishing out $250 a game to a bloke not long turned 18 and just came out of Sandhurst 18s were he was 4th ot 5th string ruckman (behind Martin, Sloan etc). He even told me that Huntly havnt even seen him play a game, just train.

Hows the other recruit going Jason someone (could be Jason May) heard he goes alright.

HDFLhawk I can answer that!! Have seen the kid play and huntly had spoken to two Bgo U18 coaches prior to approaching him... Not sure on the figure as he has only signed a clearance?? Long also played praccy match against Calivil prior to talking dollars. He had two ruckman against him on the weekend and held his own.. Worth it if the figures right. With no ruckmen a this stage of the year I think the club has done the right thing in getting a kid. Huntly had 7 kids U18 in the ones against serp. And have another 4 or 5 21 and under. Looking to build for the future rather than a quick fix like previous years.. Ezard, Geary, Campbell had shockers three front line players and the hawks went down by 12 or more goals... Jason May has been most consistent since coming to the club..

Dunno Brent, the VCFL had no drama's in allowing Bakes regiaster at Tonny after he left home, he hasn't been in trouble for over 2 years and was exceptional in the DVFL last year so doubt the HDFL would go down that path.

Hope not anyway as it would be questioning my credibility also, along with the reputation of a group of people working their butts off to shed past repuatations and ensuring a respected future for the BFNC.

We'v all done things we'r not proud of in the past but if we never got that chance to right our wrongs then we'd never move on in life

so there are now 4 century goal kickers ready to roam the forward lines of the HDFL, Bakeer, Irwin, Ryan and Waters. plenty of headaches there for the opposing backmen. should mean there are plenty of big bags kicked, which will hopefully entice the crowds to the grounds

Good to see the hawks go for a few of the youngsters. If the club is going to win a few games then they need their younger players to take over. You can't expect the old blokes like Billings & Clohesy to carry the rest of the team at their age.

Went to school with Longy and he isnt going to be a long term player for the Hawks, moving to Melb next year to goto Uni...

They needed to try something. Ive been taking an interest in the club for a couple of years now and from what i can gather they have spent a fair few quid on players with BIG reputations but very little heart!Another looong year for the Hawkers by the sound of things!

A few of the st arnaud blokes came over with pretty handy reputations and haven't really delivered for them.

Was'nt Carr the big talk lkast year along with his brother.

Adrian Carr played for Elmore last year didnt he? Was in and out of the 1s? Alister Carr, his brother, played for Essendon but his job forced him overseas after a year with the bloods. Last time I heard he was still in China for his job but would be coming back every now and then.

Yeah, does anyone know if they are playing there again this year or have the commitee finally run out of patience with them & told them to move on? I know that Billings (coach) is from St.Arnaud but fair dinkum he was kidn himself if he thought they were gunna do it for Huntly....

My understanding was that from now it is your clubs secretary's job to submit onto the transfer list and they have the ability to do so without the league secretary being involved. Not sure if the league has done something outside the norm on the Baker application.

I thought Brock Ezard was a very good pick up kicked 50 or so with pretty shappy delivery while Billings himself was still a solid contributor in 2006 won their B & f in fact. Clohesy battled some injuries but had put in a couple of good years before hand their woes of 2006 stemmed from some of their other recruits that produced rarely and the lack of depth still evident.

doona would be great to see baker back in the hdfl so long concentrates on the footy and not trying to take out the young ones with him back you would really shorten in for finals if not the big one but didnt hdfl put ban or something on him after taking young jones head off a couple of times last time he was playing

Gez, What a shame never herd of a player travelling back from Melb? He is a long term he said so himself....

Ezard, Closhey & rest will be going around again. As for kidn himself Stan not sure what else he is suppose to do. With Huntly the stigma or the lack of success around this club is what makes his job hard. He got what he could. I know that he & a/coach have contacted 250 to 300 players since the end of the last season.. Not through lack of trying is the depth poor at the hawks. I take my hat off to Billings & co for copping it for outside and in, prick of a job if you ask me.... I hope he can stick through the year..

Saw locky play calival. looking good. young and fast.were about 8 players in the 1s under 20,were causing havoc up forward and in midfiled. Smythe just jarred his knee, dont know how bad though. there were about 6 senior players who didnt play including byrne, harris,m'cintyre, kirchover. who had "prior engagements"

ive just moved down for uni and am playing footy with elmore. they have been great to me and all the blokes there seem to be real easy going, great to get along with. cant seem to understand why elmore keeps copping a flogging on this website???? should have a strong side this year think were gonna be pretty good. anyways thats my two cents worth:D

they cop it a bit becuase about 10% of there senior team are locals and about 70% are getting paid big money to travel from bendigo and other such places.

who is the...

best player from your team... Sponge bob square pants
another team...chris dunne
best defender... Greg Byrne
best forward...Dennis Ryan/Chris Dunne
best midfielder... Cam Carter/Fav
best young player... Bongianni(l.b.u)
and who do you believe will win the g/f this yr... Mounts v L.B.U, will tell you in a couple of months who. Colbo may be a chance with the big fella back.

Heard from a reliable source that Baker's clearance won't get any further that the desk of the League secretary, as the administration have decided not to accept his registration. Funny how they reject his, but let others into the comp who have been just as infamous with similar antics, if not worse, both on and off the field.

Ok farva beans, Name the 10% of elmore locals and then name for me the 70% that are on "big money".

Heres my hunch.......you have no idea what you are on about and you will not be able to do either of the above two things. good luck gimp
