Obviously didn't calculate that White Hills could drop out of the equation, seeing as Heathcote play Huntly - a potential 150+ point win, thus giving them a superior percentage if the Demons lose.

I wouldn't call it tanking either. If White Hills were guaranteed to finish in fourth or fifth possie, with the elimination final to be played at Toolleen, they would be mad to play some of their players who are carrying injuries. There is every possibility that Sawyer will play this weekend if it is a must win encounter. If they were a shoe-in for the finals, he would be no doubt rested. If White Hills, Heathcote or Broadford are to go any further than the elimination final they will need their best possible side on the park.

I hear what you are saying Matt but the way it has worked out means that the sides in contention must play thier best sides

The real question is: Who do White Hills want to play in the elimination final? If it is Broadford, then Heathcote effectively are already finished. I know if I were coach of White Hills and didn't want to face the Saints, I would be giving a few players a rest heading into the finals this weekend and playing some fringe players. Perhaps the Roos could sling the Hillies a bit of coin this weekend as an incentive :D
Heathcote beat Huntly by a big margin, White Hills lose to Broadford by say five goals, more than likely Heathcote in. Drawn game between the Roos and Hills, Heathcote in. White Hills beat Broadford, Heathcote in. Huntly beat Heathcote, Heathcote out!:D

Elmore
Colbo
Mounts
Broady
Heathcote
and White Hills to miss out. Would not have picked that a few weeks ago but Jimmy better learn how to shake hands soon as there season is nearly over. White Hills have done well still since the start of the season was a disaster under Walshy. Wonder if Matty will be asking Billo to stack the backline?

Heathcote look the goods to make it either way the WHills/Bford game goes so that match at Broady will have everything on the line.

Hillies to miss out. Broady fourth, followed by heathcote will worry the top three. They have all been troubled by these two teams this year. A fit and running Heathcote and a confident Broady with there tail up would worry any team.

Sorry Buttons, I think the Hillies may just regroup after that one and have a red hot go next Satdy. Any team that gets six kicked on em real early and has to play catch up for the rest of the day learns from that and rectifies it the following week.

From my understanding there was still one week of play left in the Heathcote league yet someone on the hdfl site has already seen fit to predict this weeks results and announce the fixture for the finals. I'm sorry to say Heathcote, you are out. Also bad luck for LBU as you must have no chance of an upset as Elmore keep top spot.

If you go to all VCFL sites it has sides in positions for those finals as per where they currently stand on the ladder so thats nobody's guess work just a function of the site.

As per other posts on this site if heathcote wins by say 25 goals (lets say a score of 30 goals to 5 goals, realistic and similiar to LBU on Saturday) their % will increase to circa 109%. If White Hills loose by say 4 goals (lets say 18 goals to 14 goals) their % would be circa 106%. Both sides would be level on points and heathcote would go through to finals.

A 20 goal Heathcote win (say a scoreboard of 25 goals to 5 goals) will give them a % in the order of 106%.

Obviously there are many possible outcomes so will have to wait until 5pm Saturday.

And obviously a Broadford loss will put Heathcote straight in (they won't loose to Huntly sorry to say).

I see that heathcote winning has put the spotlight back on doona and the boys down at broadford. Doona has been open all yr saying if the roos don't make the finals he will step down. Will he fall on his sword?? for his sake and broadford's i hope not!!

I think I have said at different times that if we don't contest finals then with the list we have assembled it would be a failure, and I still mean that - stepping down I doubt!!!

All the what ifs over the year mean stuff all -it's whether or not the players that have been down for a few weeks can get themselves up for our finals campaign that starts at 2pm this Saturday.

We have a lot to play for this week, Pete Ezards 400th, big doo Saturday plus the vote count Sunday - we wouldn't want to be the only club team not playing finals would we???

Any word on Benny Johnson colboman? heard he got knocked out against Elmore on saturday

benny is ok he hit his head on the ground when slung in a tackle. was out for a while didnt look good, went to hospital in ambulance. will miss this week but will be right after that.
d i c khead marcus mckern was calling him weak while he was knocked out and ran over to grab him and pick him up, timmy hill stood in his way and copped 2 punches in the back of the head and hit the deck. how dumb could a bloke be the umpire was standing right there so he got booked and will now be a chance of missing finals with his record.

HDFL looks at cap policy

"We have asked clubs that in their last two games this season to see what would happen if they had to follow this next year, just out of curiosity," Arnel said yesterday.

"The rationale behind it is it encourages loyalty as clubs would be encouraged to develop their juniors as they are what we would classify locals and worth the minimum one point.

"It will discourage clubs taking players from rival Heatheote District Football League clubs, and we believe it will provide a more even playing field across the competition."

Arnel is a co..sucker" All he wants to do is stuff the league up by bringing down the successful clubs, and anyone will tell you that when you start to drag the successful clubs down you have a recipe for disaster. Get the lower clubs to get their act together or piss off.
Look at mounts for instance, they have had 13-14 seniors this year that have come through their thirds, so how is this system going to help Huntly anyway. Fu/? OFF ARNEL YOU w***er.

Hey boys, new to this, plenty of interesting reading. Lots of conjecture about points system. seems like lots of pro's and cons, can anyone post a copy of the initial formula so we can have a look for ourselves

Hill was in front McKern when he got hit and also McKern wasn't "running over to grab him to pick him up" either. What I heard was McKern telling the bloke to "get up already because you've got the free kick." What happened to Johnson was unfortunate. Sling tackles can be dangerous especially when someones arms are pinned. I thought these were being looked at by the umpires at the beginning of the year? Obviously not ...

Has a short temper young marcus

if white hills lose the game they can fall out of the 5

after watching saturdays game they really didnt look like they deserve to play finals. totally outclassed in the first half and really couldnt match heathcote in the running department. if they do make it through they will have alot of trouble keeping up with the likes of elmore & colbo.

waters at FF was fantastic and was fed well from the midfield. i went over to the 3/4 time white hills huddle to have a listen, as someone mentioned on here earlier sawyer does drop a lot of F-bombs. it certainly wasnt an inspiring speech. i cant see them getting over broadford next week especially if sawyer doesnt come up.

was a good win by the saints. think though if they are going to push the top three sides they may be a little worried with their last quarter fadeout. wether or not your up by 10 goals at 3 quarter time, you cant afford to take your foot off the gas in any final

Yeah good one spider lets keep it the way it is and slowly but surely teams will drop away move or fold, then Mounts Colbo and Elmore can play each other every third week, we can have a final three thats what the league really needs. Think about it:thumbsdown:
