Thanks. Whats the chances though when according to the website capacity is 28,000 and members are over 28,000, then you have to fit in away supporters. Not looking good.

About half our members are Melbourne based.

Rarely would you have even 17,000 Geelong members at a Skilled game.

didnt they just build a new stand?? what a crappy stand if the ground only fits 28,000!!!

Ten Big Mac's is not worth 1 Scotch Fillet. Quanity is not always the best way to judge something.
Fact- the new stand has not hugely increased capacity but has increased the facilties available.
Fact - Geelongs orriginal aim was to increase the capacity to around 35,000. Geelong was not allowed to do this. The AFL chose's what games are played where and they didnt like the idea of another stadium to close to the numbers of Telstra Dome. They also had a dollar say in the stand
Fact - At this stage Geelong has reached its biggest ever membership of around 28,000.As other have said around have of this is out of Geelong. They are better off having a stadium that is sold out each week than building another 7000 seats that they struggle to fill and pay for. They will make an extra 1 Million a year from this stand.
Crappy? , I'm sure the Bullies would like that sort of crap.

Haven't been to Skilled Stadium for a while.

Can Bulldog fans buy seats at the ground or do we have to book?
If book - Who and when?

Cheers

The way I understand it. The Cats have sold out the full year bar around 3,500 of the capacity. This 3500 then would be 2000 in the free- first in best dressed seats , 1500 standing. Once the 3500 is sold it will be a lockout.
I would suggest to pre purchase the entrance ticket before getting to the ground, Ring Ticketmaster if the net is no good.

yep, and from what I read, 1500 of the general admission tickets are reserved for members, with 2000 left for general public.

Another good reason not to increase capacity is that it almost ensures that the ground will be filled even when the match is televised against the gate. This would greatly enhance the sponsorship value of the club's games with compromising turnstyle revenues.
