Jamo played as a forward for about 5 minutes with one leg and offered more than hendo did for 2-3 qrts as a forward. He embarrassed himself today and should very disappointed with his effort. If he plays next week it will just be another token game given to him with the hope he comes good. The kid is scared to make mistakes and didn't want to be there.

I think he may have a future as a 3rd string defender or good back up if our kp forward or defender goes down.

Has played 3-4 games so far this season after an interrupted pre-season and injury.

Is lacking confidence but after the performance of our midfield today and the supply he was getting who wouldnt be.

I think that he needs someone else to sit in the forward line with him and offer some help instead of having to try and carry the whole forward line on his shoulders.

Would love to see him play a bit of mongrel. Jump into a pack at full speed, dig your knees into someone's back, ffs just do something.

im new on here but guys give the kid a break dont you remember how kennedy was with us at the start of the career?
he was in the same boat as henderson is now every fan gettin on his back because he was never holding his marks, in and out of the sidee and now look at him abseloute gun. give the kid some time this kids going to be a gun CHF for years to come:thumbsu:

Key position players take longer to develop.

For this reason I would send back to Bullants as soon as Waite is available. Hopefully next week.

My main worry is his lack of competitive spirit. Just gets pushed out the contest too easy.
Yeah but tell that to Jack Darling.

Setanta was flying, put him back in, no use developing form in the seniors, we want players to hit the ground running
There not much future in Setanta, but when his in he tries his guts out and the team plays well most often. I still think we really need to find a key target up forward. I love too see Fevola back if he come back to his best form and fitness, but i know we done with him.

He has not got the size or the strength to play key position at AFL level. He was absolutly monstered again today. Can not take a contested mark or win one on one contests in the air and often gets pushed under the ball. He lacks the strenght and size to protect the drop zone and hold his position in contests.

The guy needs a good preseason in the gym to get his body to AFL standard. Has the skill and athleticism. Will take time. I think we are better off with O'hAilpin in the side. He has teh size, strength and can ruck.

So Darling being match ready is the rule, rather than the exception?

It's Henderson fourth year and second at Carlton.

The Carlton suppporters who bag him are the ones who need to HTFU.
I still think Henderson will be a ok player but never kick bags of goals like a key forward. This year is finished for him as injuries got the better of him.

The thing is the recruiters got this one wrong, Darling should have been picked before Watson. There no doubt that Darling will be a star and Watson will maybe be descent but not the great player we hope. The draft was rather weak last year pick 18 was would be pick 40+.

Darling was easily the best player not snatched was suppose to be number 1 pick. The simple fact is anyone can see was he tanked ? to not go hard in last year under 18 because how good he was.

I knew from the begining this guy is what you want in a forward line, a guy that tackles and goes hard at it like a midfielder a player that jumps in the air and mark and kick goals.

And you could see this, Knucklehead?

Hardly Henderson's fault we could barely get the ball out of our backline, and that when we did get it out we moved it slow.

I thought he played well in defence. If Jamison plays next week, I'd love to see Jamo and Hendo go to Riewoldt and Vickery respectively and let Waite and Kreuzer play forward.

I was unaware that Dumb and Dumber was a documentary on your life stories.

Terrible posts.

Henderson played well on Tarrant, Scarlett and Mackenzie last year, so how do you explain his lack of size in those performances?

I've seen Henderson protect the drop zone in both his hitouts against Mackenzie last year.

One swallow doesn't make a summer.

Henderson is this week's scape goat.

No pre-season and lack of miles in the legs can hurt a marking forward whose game is based around leading and repeat efforts.

Personally i think our delivery today (and most weeks) is shocking. We waste a lot of our forward 50 entries with kicks that just have way too much air time.

Kicks that land on players heads, opponents easily spoil.
Kicks to players that lead way to wide. Difficult shots, ball knocked out of play
kicks that often drop short.
Kick to the wrong targets, Betts is knee high and we kick to him like he's a power forward, when we kick it to him, put it out in front of him.
Also mids passing when within range (less than 40m out), it almost always becomes a turnover, back yourself and have a shot.

Although Henderson had a limited pre-season he has been playing every week since round 1 with Bullants or the senior team, he should be starting to run into some decent fitness by now, with Waite out the last two games he has been disappointing.

He really looks to be a 2nd or 3rd tall option in the longer term, do not see that he has enough tricks in his game to be a no.1 tall option in attack.
He looks to be purely a lead up forward, and lacks the ability to take strong marks like Kennedy/Cloke, if there is area that we may be found out at the business end is that real quality tall option in particular when teams close down the space that Walker/Gartlett are most effective.

Don't know why everyone is laying into Hendo, he was actually one of our bests today.

Were flat across the board, the delivery into the forwardline was atrocious, and Hendo was good when he had to go back.

Firstly Setanta wasn't firing. Ratten was livid for his selfishness in his last game for us against Port Adelaide and Setanta is now also injured.
Hasn't been playing any football at all.
Gee thanks Harker. Never knew he was injured:cool:
Setanta was at least running to the right areas and getting plenty of the pill, there will always be time where he makes the wrong decision but that what you get with him I guess. Nothing against Henderson, would just rather he developed in the 2s.

I think we should persevere with him up forward, clearly he's not physically strong enough to dominate games yet but I think he's shown enough to suggest that he's going to be a long term KPP for us. One thing that Lachie has going for him is that he is able to take a contested grab and lead up to provide a target for us on the wing. Most people have a perception that a CHF or FF should kick bags of 6,7 and 8 each weeks, but if you look at how the game has evolved if he is able to kick 2 or 3 goals take 7 or 8 marks and create forward pressure he is worth his weight in gold. However if he's putting in performances such as today's once he's played 100 games then I think we'll all be in a better position to make comments on his playing future.

Na, this place would be in meltdown a couple of seasons back. Reckon we are all behaving pretty well considering the disappointments of today. Helps that SplatBoy isn't here whingeing and bleating.

*giggle*........... so funny :p

Henderson is still maturing, he'll be right. You look at the top sides forward combinations: Cloke/Daws/Brown, Lynch/Kennedy/Nick Nat/Cox, Franklin/Roughead, Ottens/Pods.

These guys are monsters. They are big mature bodied strong footballers.

Henderson, in comparison is light framed and no where near as strong and this is because he's still young and isn't a real early maturer. We just have to wait until he gets there. He didn't have a good preseason this year. Expect big things next year if things go right for him. He is still very young for a tall player. Yes he's struggling a bit but that doesn't mean he's not making progress. He'll get there, plying key position is not for the boys, give this time.

I think though if Waite is in the side with Henderson it could complement both of them and take physical pressure off both. It needs to be tried to see if it works, it should.
