Interesting, what have you learnt so far? It's been a difficult start to the season with the 'load up on guns' strategy, to say the least. I'm facing an uphill battle.

The biggest lesson is that of the commonly held opinion that stacking the forward line is a good idea.

I get the feeling that a spattering of Mid-priced players, that could be held, (and hopefully have a bit of profit), and then all traded up to an underperforming gun when the time was right might be a go-er.

Power forwards have bad weeks every year, and those weeks have a huge effect of score. A much bigger effect in Supercoach than it has in Dreamteam, and as such, a different strategy should be used.

Also, loading up the midfield with the most dominate team in the league is a *good* idea... :)

All good points walesy.

I have learnt the exact same lessons. Next year I will be stacking the backline so I don't have to worry about a 7th rookie defender every week.

I will also get ablett and bartel as my first two midfielders (best team in the league factor)

And like you said just get pavlich as my only gun forward and the rest of my forwards will all be good midrange players that I can hope to upgrade throughout the season with underperforming guns whose price will drop like j.brown, johnson, riewoldt, chapman, etc.

Man we should all blitz next year using this strategy hey? :D:thumbsu:

Forwards will always burn you. However its the age old problem. Brown might average 120 for 10 games before sucking for two games. (Unfortunately for those who have him he has sucked pretty much all year so far). You've missed out 1200 points from his first 10 games while you've had Porplyzia bringing in 800 points at 80 per game.

SC takes skill, but also a fair amount of luck. Even with all the research some picks haven't performed, some rookies have sucked when expected to prosper and some have exceeded expectations.

My lesson so far is skimping on the midfield.. however even then for those who picked Dal Santo and Kornes its heartbreak hotel.

Meh.

Stupid SC.

Skimping on the midfield? I don't think so!

I'd prefer to stack it with black, ablett, bartel, hodge, cross and some rookie noob.

Have the defence with bock, kenelly, shaw, cornes, mcleod, bradshaw, john____

Rucks would be Cox and someone else

Forwards would be pavlich, rioli and a whole bunch of cheapies and mid rangers.

Thats what my idea for next year would be but yeah the salary cap would have to fit that team all in of course! LOL! :D

Can I have some help please boys on this dilemma I have.

I'm looking to trade in 2 cash cows,

OPTION 1= Barlow for Ibbotson (213k) and Callan ( I believe he's peaked) for either-

Mitchell
Chapman
Bateman
Pendelbury

OR

OPTION 2= Barlow for Wona (192k) and Callan for either

Power
Kornes
Cooney
Deledio

I'm coming 1,700 in the comp and want to get under 500 to win a bet I've made with a mate!

Looking for your opinions PLEASE!

you have much to learn about the force young padawan.

I stacked my backline because there wasn't TOO much value in the rookie backs. I got burnt by the fact that Bowden sucked and got dropped and being stubborn I haven't traded him and have been playing NJB. That being said he will go this week unless named.

Alot of value in the midfield. My only mistake there was Dyson. Hack has now been traded to Kornes but did SFA during his time in the team. Happy with Hayes and Cross and my rookies, only wish I picked Masten over Geary. No matter.

Can't complain about my forwards, I picked Pavlich and Roo as guns and considering the form on Browny, BJ and now Chappy that was smart. Burton has been good, Porps a little meh. I wish I hung onto Aker but he got me Hill which got me Franklin so I can't complain too much.

Moral of the story? Too Serious is an average website.

Oh hi Walsey.

:)

You just wait see the next development for Donors, what I'm doing, is getting information that's freely availiable on the web, and combining it in a way that makes it easy for the home viewer to digest.

Which will hopefully lead to said home viewers making wiser Bench and Captain selections...

Seriously.
Ten.

I mean... Too.
Serious.

Horrible feeling isn't it...

...I've really liked my team from the start, except for the fact they just weren't scoring!

I was starting to come to the realisation that just maybe actually wasn't as good as I'd thought...but a 2350+ this week and a rookie straight swap upgrade ahead has my ego back on track! :D

Interesting how injuries affect teams in different ways (Have Chad, but there's only one Wonermeri on the bench ;) )...
...but the 2 games Gamble missed has delayed a planned upgrade...and the less said abuot Sam Lonergan's hamstring the better! (Looks like I'll be starting Bird for the next 3-4 weeks at least. :( )

How many trades have you got left though?

If Cornes was out for longer than 2-3 I could almost condone a trade out and trade back in if you have a monster amount of trades left.

However... its a bit meh..

14 trades left,

I have made an agreement with my opponent in my league this week (my brother) we both have chad and agreed that we both wont trade him out and play man down effectively reducing his injury by a week for us.

is this silly.....

i have the chad out, so thinking of getting a few extra points in my backline.....2 trades

Symes and Waite = out

S.Fisher/Burgoyne/Gilbee = In

??

then when chad is back...my backline will look as follows,

Milburn, Shaw, Cornes, Gilbee, Burgoyne, Mattner, Pfieffer (thompson, Proud)

i have thought about downgrading cashcow(bird/won/west/tippett/gamble) and then upgrade Stevens(carl) or Porpz or burton? i dunno really, im in mixed feelings atm, wanna make my 3rd trade of the seson, hav an itch!

That backline looks awsome when the Chad comes back.

I'm in the same boat with Porp. I'm starting to think he's almost peaked. Also not sure how he's shoulder is holding up.

Website is fine Walesy, I donated half my weekly beer money.

Keep up the good work......I know I'm a broken record...but I'm still p1ssed off at Priddis, Cornes, Dew, (Hall, Lucas) Gamble Kennelly (the week I played short)...

Please Footy Gods let me win a game 0-3 is ridiculous when I've got a reasonable team... May need to get Ablett and Bartel over Stevens and Cooney if they drop in price.

Sorry to hear your still winless impromptu. I got my first win on the bord this week just gone, hopefully i can get on some kind of role

Murphy has been awesome but i think most people in hear would have doubted if he could stay on the park all year, i dont think anyone would question his ability to use the footy and score supercoach points.

Personally i had to chose two of Porp/Burton/Didak/Murphy i chose Porp and Burton and am not to disappointed at all.

but weel done on the Murphy choice
