I like the Carlton 1980's jumper with the older style monogram than the newer one, like they wore for thier last game at Optus, did they wear that on the weekend?

What did Collingwood wear? The predominantly white jumper?
Yep both wore those jumpers, and it was fantastic to see. I wish both clubs would change back to these jumpers, they are both better than their current ones and brought many great memories flooding back (and some not so great - bloody mcguane).

I agree with Goldenblue with regards to South Melbourne guernseys. The club wore the white with the red V for over 50 years in which time only 1 flag was won. 2 flags were won with the white guernsey with the red sash. Another possible guernsey is the one which was red with a white SMFC monogram.(edit. it's the 1921 guernsey that Goldenblue was referring to)

With Brisbane, as well as the final Fitzroy guernsey, another option is one of the early Bears guernseys.

As for West Coast, the 1987 guernsey isn't authentic without the yellow shorts.

I'd like to see Sydney in this one as well.

It's weird how the Eagle's yellow guernsey looked terrible when they wore it in the eighties, and yet somehow it looks good now.

Also, I agree that Adelaide have as much right to wear a SA state jumper if Port and Freo can wear heritage jumpers from other "name associated" clubs.

As for Collingwood, don't they have an old Wizard Cup (or Ansett Cup) jumper they can wear, with the picture of a cartoon Magpie on the front?

Just kidding on that last one, Eddie.

This years croup wasn't impressive at all. When will Brisbane wear the LAST Fitzroy jumper? I actually have that jumper and it's one of my favorites.

Best - Sydney

Worst - Port Adelaide

im guessing they prefer the one theyve got cos its more like the bears.
definately like the fitzroy one better than the bears one.

The biggest joke is that some clubs couldn't wear their prefered heritage jumper this time around!!

Talk about a joke............. Collingwood and its precious colours are a joke and the fact they think they are the only club in the world who own the right to wear black and white.

Not the world, just the afl. But don't let the fact we're not talking about that get in the way of a good whinge, huh?

North's WAS royal blue (although a darkish one), not navy, so I don't know where that complaint came from. And the blue with the white V is our club jumper from 1925 when we finally got into the VFL, not the Vic state jumper, so that's just a red herring too. Like Mero, could have done without the North story logo but maybe it's too expensive for us to shell out for two different sets of heritage shirts in a season.

I like the idea and I like seeing different jumpers, too. One year - when we're not playing Geelong - I'd love to see North run out in the narrow hoops they wore early on.

Ditto for the Prince Imperials, their royal blue and white hoops and red cap.

I wish we'd just put the north stry logo on the breast.

I'lltell you what tho, i LOVE that jumper, it's a cracker.

Why do people hate Port's so much? Is it cool to bag them?

Adelaide - looked good, but they have no heritage, why would they wear a SA state guernsey? might as well give that jumper to port next year (or wait, didn't they have something similar last year)?

Brisbane - nice, the old fitzroy jumper is a classic. they should go with the '96 one though.

Carlton - not much difference, thats the jumper they wore in '97, so doesn't look classic at all.

collingwood - brilliant jumper, ********s all over their current guernsey. Bring it back I say.

essendon - what can you say? same old, thinner stripe...

freo - good jumper, the umpires had to wear orange though instead of traditional white in their game.

Geelong - the thinner stripes work well. I like it.

Hawks - Probably the worst jumper. however, good to see us allow it to be worn. unlike the pies, who rob port of their jailbar jumper.

Melbourne - Not bad, not great either.

North - the royal blue looks pretty good.

Port - unfairly bagged. not the best jumper but still better than the hawks.

tigers - yawn. At least put up something instead of printed lace ups.

saints - didn't really look like a heritage jumper, the cuffs were black and that ruined its look IMO.

sydney - pretty good.

west coast - they should use this as their home jumper, much better than the disgrace they wear now at home.

dogs - pretty good, i like it better than the current one with the dog on the front.

Eaxactly. We probably have more right to wear it seeing most of the players that wore it were Port players.

The reason that Port could wear it is the same reason that the Adelaide Football Club wore it. The jumper is a SANFL jumper its not a "state jumper", why did the SANFL team wear it this year when half of them are victorian??? If it is a "state jumper" then those victorian and WA players should not have been playing in the side. The jumpers have always been representative of the SANFL nothing to do with representing South Australia. Hence why a player could have lived in South Australia from birth until he was 12 or 13 and then gone to victoria and started playing football and then played for Victoria in state of origin it is all about representing the league not a state. People referring to it as a "state jumper" are just following Rucci's storm in a teacup which the whole argument was a total contradiction anyway because it isnt a "state jumper".

I agree that it wasnt a jumper that the Adelaide Football Club have worn before, BUT they were formed as a representative side of the SANFL. Given the fact that they were formed out of the SANFL if they wear the SANFL representative jumper and the SANFL approves it then there is no further issue. It was heritage week not history week. I think Port supporters need some english lessons because HISTORY AND HERITAGE ARE NOT THE SAME THING !!!!

Just the same as if Port want to wear it. They are also a side that is representing the SANFL in the AFL.
