The AFL changed logo as the old logo did not actually show the letters "AFL".

This was to make the brand more recognisable in non-AFL states and outside of Australia. The brand is actually quite well known now in the USA so i think this was one of the few wise decisions the AFL have made in recent years.

But the new one looks modern

One day maybe, you will come to realise that to enter the AFL , Port sold out their identity and one of the trade offs was that they had no rights anymore to the Black and White brand. And Port willingly consented to give up the brand.

Maybe if Port negotiated a bit harder instead of giving in, they may have got more, but all they could see was the pot at the end of the rainbow and sold their soul to get to that pot.

Look to yourself before blaming others for your loss of identity.

also because the old version heavily referenced the australian flag (& isnt terribly creative imho) - the current / new logo is a corporate identity they can wholly own.

I never noticed that.

It reminded me more of Ansett.
