Just get Lobb done. 207cm guys who can take a contested mark, kick a goal or two, and play second ruck don't grow on trees...

THEN turn our attention to Hogan.

Collingwood is holding it all up. They need to offload 18 to Brisbane for Beams.

Brisbane then need to give us 5 and 18 for Neale.

18 to GWS for Lobb.

We can then send 11 and 23 to Melbourne for Hogan + maybe exchange of 2019 second rounders (say 25ish for 38ish)

Take 5, 30, 49, 81 to the draft.

We'll have turned Neale and pick 6 into pick 5, Hogan, Lobb, picks 30 and 49.

Piece. of. Piss.

Some rumours I have heard about the Hogan interview with Freo seem to fit with the 'Due Diligence' comment by Bell and Langdon's comments.
If true (and others from same source have been) leaving him at Melbourne is not surprising but of course Media witch hunt from Victoria is all about how Freo have stuffed everyones plans up.

McPharlin said on multiple occasions that the program our sports science people put him on saved his career because he couldn't get on the park due to repetitive soft tissue injuries. No idea what you're referring to with Sonny, neither Sandi. The fact we've got as many games out of Sandi - the tallest and heaviest player in AFL history that we stuck on a plane every fortnight - goes to show how good our team has been.

Bennell is a unique case and the club has thrown literally everything it can at trying to get him right. If there was damage done in long term injury management, it was during his initial injuries at Gold Coast.

Sure, they are very particular. I'm open to being convinced otherwise, but based mostly on my Big Footy Vibe-o-meter :), it just seems we've had repeated injuries to key players and a relatively long injury list in general.

I'm willing to concede I may be way off ... but when it comes to an asset like Hogan and the cost it might be, I do get a bit edgy.

PS. went and did a bit of research (well as it is these days, let Google do it for me), and though these things can be quite inaccurate, it seems we sit somewhere between the middle to higher than average for injury impact over the last couple of seasons in the few things I could find - so yeah, maybe I need to chill.

Not really going to 100% subscribe to this.
Melbourne have put a ridiculous price on his head.
& I do not know what is more sad on 3 key points
I - Melbourne shopping him to make room in the salary cap
II - Freo the only potential customer sniffing because of Hogans well known love for the club
III - No one else has showed a skirret of interest .

we have no reason to move on this

I'm interested in AFL the game and all that goes with it .

Too limit myself to just Ports part in it, to me myopic . More so trade time when trades impact well outside the immediate level .

I never ever go into a discussion where it is stated by originator for XYZ supporters only .

Did I put foot into Freo , no .

If that was so you would have engaged in other parts of this conversation instead of 'randomly' having a go at a female member because she acknowledged a WCE supporter who wasn't obnoxious or arrogant in a post about Freo. This was never about YOU.

“We think he’s going to be right up at the highest that anyone has been traded for and we think that Fremantle have that opportunity with some picks that they may gain.” - Josh Mahoney (clearly going after picks 5 and 6).

"the Demons’ demands on Hogan were at least two first rounders"

"Melbourne would have accepted pick six and a future second round pick in a deal to send Jesse Hogan to Fremantle?" (no longer 2 first rounders)

Pick 6 and a future second isn't close to the "highest that anyone has been traded for" so this was clearly not Melbourne's stating point. Add in the quote from before the start of the trade week and it's clear they where going after 5 and 6 to begin with. Also concerning freo's offer, pick 6 and a 2019 2nd verses pick 11 and a 2019 2nd isn't that big of a difference (a difference equivalent to pick 41). Melbourne's flip flopping on Hogan's worth is clearly sus (from 5 and 6 to 2 first round picks to 6 and a second), add in his injury history, personal problems and Melbourne's want for May and I think Bell made the right decision in telling them to GAGF.

Also if Neale is only worth Pick 5, Hogan is worth pick 11 by itself. Neale is 2 years older, which is to say age is not a major factor. Comparatively, by Hogan's age Neale had won a b&f, broken the AFL record for disposals in a season and won the geoff christian medal (best WC/Freo player). Since then Neale has proven to be one of the most consistent players in the AFL, won more awards (second b&f and geoff christian medal) and proven his capabilities as a leader of a club. Hogan has no such accomplishments and also carries foot, personal, attitude and cancer issues. No way in hell Hogan is worth more than Neale.

Pick 11 and a 2019 2nd is more than reasonable and probably more than Hogan is actually worth.

Regarding point 3, interesting the Vic media headlines saying we're out of the race for Hogan when we're the only club seriously after him (at least this year) lol.

Never noticed gender until you bought it up , to me doesn't make a difference .

Glad you know more about my intentions than I do, quite a talent

I think it’s still possible.

We should do our very best to get Lobb through on Monday and you would think if Hogan has any chance of coming it would be done by Tuesday or early Wednesday as Melb would then need turn their attention to May and get him through.

Will the dees cave on the 11 & 23 deal? I think it’s possible!

I can’t see Melbourne taking 11 and 23 without a good sweetener. Unless they think Gold Coast will take it for May

With all the rumours on what Melbourne May accept, would love them to publicly say. We have asked for 5 and 23 or whatever it was and say I think that is fair for hogan.

There hasn’t been much detail from either parties or Hogan’s manager, so must still be a bit more to go

It looks like the weekend will take the heat out of the Hogan situation for FFC.

If GC and Melbourne have been talking about a straight swap Hogan for May, then it's no longer "Jesse wants to go home and we're doing the right thing to help". It's "we want May and Jesse is expendable so that we can get what we want".

The shrill commentary painting us as the villian has now been moderated by some alternative views pointing out the risks to Freo and that Melbourne have their own agenda too.

Kudos to Mr Bell and the Silver Fox for pulling back from what was becoming a toxic deal. Melbourne can still deal with us, but it will be on our terms.
Or, at least from a middle ground.

Long time lurker. I've got to say I would do 5 and 23 for Hogan because he fits our age profile and we can cover the loss of neale (Blakely/brayshaw/cerra) better than we can currently piece together a forward line.

I think Freo will never have a better chance to snag a premiership than while Fyfe is 28-30, he can drag us to a flag if we surround him with a bit of quality at all areas of the ground. We could spend that 5 on a King who may project to be as good as Hogan with lower risks around injury, but they would only ever develop in minimum 3 years.

From the Melbourne board. Hmmmm

Probably crap, but I have always wondered if the AFL ever step in when such a media hogging high profile trade is involved

AFL is all controlling but in these circumstances they are just mediators, there is nothing to mediate here as we are no longer interested in hogan, Melbourne have royall stuffed up here its an embarrassment thats why all the mel supporters are so emotional.
