Cowan had a lot of talent but he was absolutely cruelled by injury. I also rated Jeremy Laidler, and he ended up being more than serviceable elsewhere after not getting the chances he probably should have got at Geelong.

Mitch Brown was another cruelled by injury.

In the praccy match at Princes Park in 2007, he was excellent as the new shiny recruit. Mobile strong overhead.

Then injury struck. Shoulder. Never looked 100% after that.

Smedts did his shoulder, badly, early on in his run at it.
Pre shoulder injury Mitch Brown looked special. Was never the same after that

Ps. Cowan was great in his first outing also at Princes Park.

Vardy looked like he could be anything that day.

I remember well.... going home I announced that the new Premiers had just stacked the list for a 10 year run.

Not sure if correct thread, but Josh Begley, former Eastern Ranges and then Bombers mid/fwd, has had 2 brilliant local years of footy.
Dominated the EFL GF today with 30+ possessions, and 4 goals- a brute with elite disposal.
Wonder if he will be another left field recruit next year, turning 27.
A fit modern day version of Stewart Dew?
Having seen him play, he's lethal, and looks to be a wasted talent, not that EFL is a poor league.
