PS4 Horizon: Zero Dawn

Been waiting to hear people's thoughts before picking it up. Fairly glowing reviews so far. Might order it tomorrow.

I wasn't very excited for it since it was announced. Didn't really seem like my thing. Never planned on getting it at or near launch at any stage - only gave in because I had nothing to play.

I was hooked in an hour.

Yeh, I wasn't really fussed with it at all leading up to launch but it looks amazing and seems to be getting rave reviews. Hard to turn down.

It borrows heavily from Witcher, Uncharted, Tomb Raider and even The Last of Us. If you like any of those, it's a safe purchase from what I've played so far.

Far Cry as well. It shares a lot of similar mechanics with FC3/FC4/BD.

Its amazing from the few hrs i have played, and looks so f**king good on a Pro with a 4K TV.

Dodge should be Square. Game needs a lock on mechanic like any other decent combat game. Other than that i'm enjoying it.

I find a group of Tramplers and start taking them down after doing the tutorial part for points, and out of nowhere comes a flock of f**king Glinthawks almost kill me. i was lucky i had 4 full things of medicine.

Lock on for spear should be in the game they can even link into the games lore with connector thingy. Also I have no idea why they didn't show more gameplay with just using the spear... it's my main weapon

Loving spear too, except I keep going into scan mode trying to lock on, and since that doesn't work I start spamming X to roll out of the way.

there's a merchant just before you leave Mother's testicle or whatever it is that sells the maps for the Metal Flowers and stuff, worth grabbing them all early so you can grab most of the shit as you play the game

Seeing this thread may have convinced me to grab this and leave Wildlands for a cheap sale day.

Not sure about the names of things specifically, but its doesn't really matter - reckon the inventory and trading system is one of the best I've seen. Not as complex as Witcher for example which makes things easier, but when you go to sell stuff to a trader every item will display what it can be used for - crafting, trading, sell for shards etc. Makes it a bit easier to identify stuff you can sell. But there's also a buy-back option, seems like everything of consequence you've ever sold is listed there - so no probs if you happened to sell something you needed a bit further along.

Also, don't forget to craft bigger bags for resources, ammo etc. You'll have what you need to craft an upgraded resources bag really early on.

Fantastic game.

Just super conscious about selling something that is important. But I guess buying back the stuff helps a lot.

Nearly maxed out most of the bags. Inventory was the first one maxed completely.

My only gripe with the game so far is they need to fill their big beautiful world with more creatures and shit to do. Similar to a Farcry game where there's always something going on. Feels pretty empty running around.
