Seeing this thread may have convinced me to grab this and leave Wildlands for a cheap sale day.

The Wildlands BETA didnt already scare you away?

I havent played much with photo mode so these are not that good. I might play around and look for some good photos today.

These comparisons to far cry scare me to be honest
Comparisons to Far Cry is a short way for articulately challenged people to describing a hunter based open world game. Far more detailed world design, combat and side quests. Ubisoft wishes they could make a game of this standard.

Had time to put a few hours in last night. Game is epic. Yeah great visuals but the sound design is top notch too, both the robot noises and the ambient stuff. Must be played with surround and sub woofer :D

After the Proving quest, just after emerging from the mountain with the elder:

First time you see a Corruptor, when it controls some other machines and charges the gates + the subsequent battle. That sh1t was awesome.

Little bit of CD projekt red love for Horizon

Yep for me it really is a mash-up of Witcher, Tomb Raider and Far Cry, but with probably a better story than any of those. And giant robot dinosaurs.

The game has some very similar mechanics lifted almost directly from Far Cry. So it's one of the easiest comparisons to make.

The Skill Trees are very comparable with all of the specific linking skill trees

- Death from above/strike from below
- The 2x foraging ones + extra loot from downed enemies
- Extra health packs.

Then there is the fact that the inventory upgrade systems are pretty much identical or incredibly similar. Although Horizon improves this by giving you the option to set a quest for upgrade items you need.

The foraging is similar as well, I get the same feeling wandering from plant to plant to restock my medical supplies straight after a bigger fight that I did in Far Cry 3 five years ago.

It's all basic stuff, but to deny the connection is silly. Throw in similar stealth mechanics from throwing rocks to get attention and you can see the similarities piling up. Now Horizon is its own game, its production values are a lot higher than Far Cry's and it is a far more polished product. I agree that the world design, combat and side quests are of a higher standard here. But there's definitely comparisons between the two games to be made in multiple aspects.

So I think it is more articulately challenged as you put it to try and pass off Horizon as coming up with all of these concepts that it lifted from other games (including Far Cry) as its own concepts.

I was deliberately being antagonising there's no denying it shares alot with FarCry, however it does everything I mean everything better than farcry. It's one of the few open world games where I don't use quick travel due to just how lovely and immersive the world is.

Also I never said the game mechanics were all original.

Finally picked it up. I swear the last two hours of work took at least three.

I peaked at platinum requirements praying there would be no spoilers. I think I'm safe but disappointed that a missable trophy may affect how I play the game so will have to make a call early on how many playthroughs I want.
Good news! Devs hav. Confirmed it does not matter what you chose, this trophy is not missable. Any ally that you may be able to kill also does not count towards this trophy.

Far Cry 2 was so dreadful I never progressed far enough to witness any similarities with Horizon.

Probably a good thing Horizon wasn't really on my radar because Far Cry comparisons would have convinced me not to buy.

I haven't been able to play as much as I'd like.

However, one thing I have noticed so far, the music is quite relaxing.
Gets bloody intense at times.

How does the trophy work then? I've only looked up Powerpyx's guide and it says that everyone has to be there or something. So is that trophy instead just an unmissable story one instead then? Would be great if true because some people deserve being a total prick to.
