Re: Hot Pies - the new premiership favourites?

Absolutely.

But inadvertently he doesnt know how close to the truth he actually is..............

actually there is an element of truth in that....but as someone said before Pies have the full list. There is no denying how critical that is come September as much as Collingwood hates being anything else than the tedious "underdog"

Saints have one weakness. Theyre the Saints. 26 spoons must weigh heavily.

Nevermind theyll always have this:

Re: Hot Pies - the new premiership favourites?

You are the 3rd best team this year. Stop acting like you are the best team and everyone else is underrating you.

We are millimetres from being equal first. I never said we we under-rated, but I have been saying for a few weeks that the gap is closing fast.

This weekend did nothing to dispel that.

Re: Hot Pies - the new premiership favourites?

Favourites? Nah. Threats? You betcha!

Watch the pies come finals time. Saints will be tough but qualifying final against geelong I'd be very confident going into.

Saints lose, cats on the ropes.Pies the team to beat?
Kevin Sheedy has said that the team playing best coming in to the finals is the team most likely to win the premiership and not the team that has started the season well and lowered their performances as the season progresses. Both St.Kilda and Geelong has looked shaky and beatable recently. Collingwood is now officially the best performed club since Round 9.
Collingwood beat Richmond and all of a sudden St Kilda and Geelong are easy beats?
Ummm...just in case you're unaware, Collingwood has won 11 of their last 12 matches, and not just a match against Richmond.
Over the course of the season Collingwood are the 3rd best team but how on earth do they become favourites?
St.Kilda are still favourites, but Collingwood should be second favourites because they have been the best performed team since Round 9 this season, and they have shown they can play on the M.C.G in front of huge crowds which St.Kilda has not done this season.

Re: Hot Pies - the new premiership favourites?

We're obviously not favourites for a good reason, but to completely dismiss us is just stupid. Quite capable of beating Geelong on our day, not so sure on St Kilda.

Re: Hot Pies - the new premiership favourites?

No matter how much this Pies wagon pushes it and pushes it, a few wins and a blowout against a much weaker opponent doesn't make put them at the same level as the Cats or the Saints, sadly...It just doesn't work that way, friend.

The Doggies are still a formidable side, everyone forgot about the other 25% of the top 4?

Re: Hot Pies - the new premiership favourites?

The thread is a joke - trying to get the faithful jumping on a bandwagon. The wagon is rolling but it is clearly behind the saints and cats. remember saints and geelong are not really playing for anything atm. 1st and 2nd is tied up. They will go to another level come september.

The pies are coming along nicely, still a gap behind the top 2 and marginally ahead of the doggies and crows.

Still, our chances are improving a little by little each week.

Re: Hot Pies - the new premiership favourites?

Premiership chance, not favourites. Collingwood has had some fantastic form, but very difficult to go past St Kilda and Geelong right now.

I'm still not getting this whole lack of playing on the MCG argument? I they meant to get nervous or is the ground bigger? I would say the atmosphere the dome creates is more of a finals type atmosphere.

The great thing for footy fans is now the streak is over we can all look forward to 'The Winning Streak 2009'.

On our day, we can beat anyone. On St. Kilda's or Geelong's day they could easily beat us too.

It is a simple equation and anyone that doesn't agree with this is delusional.

On top of this, as proven today anyone in the 8 can win the flag ... just a lot more difficult if not in the top 4.

Re: Hot Pies - the new premiership favourites?

No because St Kilda have a better gameplan, better players, harder bodies, the in form team of the 20 rounds, the loss will take some pressure off them. St Kilda are still favourites.

We're not picking the AA team now mate. Form over 20 rounds merely draws the ladder. Do you realise that in two years out of three the minor premier does not win the flag?

As much as you'd like to think otherwise, form over recent months is a million times more important than form in the first few months of the year. StKilda and Geelong have gradually found themselves struggling to dominate games like they did early in the year while Collingwood have continued to improve.

Re: Hot Pies - the new premiership favourites?

have they beaten geelong or stkilda yet?
I judge teams performances over a two year period, and not just one season. I find that more of an accurate guide, so in that case Collingwood has beaten both Geelong and St.Kilda.

Re: Hot Pies - the new premiership favourites?

nah, pies are ticking along nicely but far from GF favourites. the Sydney game will be tight and tough, and make no mistake they will be out to break the hoodoo we have on them, and the Dogs are no walk over either.
