How are the new draftees looking?

I wouldn't say he is huge but he is defienitly in good shape:thumbsu: Do you think he will debut in Rd1?
If Myers does have a good debut season and Morton takes his time, the Myers>>>>>>Morton threads will appear on BF and question Melbourne' selection. ;)
If Carlton had've kept #3, I was hoping that we would've used it to take Myers. GUN!
I think we would have gone for Masten since we needed another in and under midfielder and the players we drafted this year appear to be hard nuts.

We have plenty of utilities who are similar to Myers and Morton.

Cotchin: Still recovering from his ankle
Rance: Looking really solid, may play a few games this year
Putt: Raw. Wont play for a while
Gourdis: Also underdeveloped skills wise. Unlikely to get a game
Collard: Silky but not fit or confident enough.
Cartledge: Unlikely to get a gig unless three others get injured. Well built.
Silverster: Almost managed to man up Richo, not all bad, bit slow.

Cyril - Lovely skills, will spend quality time with the conditioning coach over the next few months.

Whitecross - reasonable build, think he may be carrying a niggle.

Dew - Doing all the running. Fitness will not be the problem if he is not getting a game.

Rookies
Grima - built and runs like a whippet.
Sandilands - tall defender and looks OK
Stokes - Could be a bolter. Reasonable build, fitness needs work but he has reasonable strength.
Suckling - Dunno
Walsh - Dunno

This is kind of like the way women communicate:

Cyril - Lovely skills, will spend quality time with the conditioning coach over the next few months. (grossly unfit)

Whitecross - reasonable build, think he may be carrying a niggle. (6 out of 10 in all categories, nothing spectacular)

Dew - Doing all the running. Fitness will not be the problem if he is not getting a game. (Fat, desperatley needs to shed kilos)

Rookies
Grima - built and runs like a whippet. (Will never be physical enough for AFL)
Sandilands - tall defender and looks OK (crap)
Stokes - Could be a bolter. Reasonable build, fitness needs work but he has reasonable strength. (could be a bust too)
Suckling - Dunno (Dunno)
Walsh - Dunno (Dunno)

I'll give you a hint, if your missus asks you if she looks fat in those jeans, say no......

If shifter Sheehan ever vacates his position, APPLY for it

:p:D

The Bomber boys aren't looking bad, but I wouldn't say that there's anything to get too excited about just yet. Then again, the same applies to just about any club and any new player.

David Myers looks fairly ready. The hamstring was just a minor setback, and from all reports he looks at home on the track. I wouldn't be guaranteeing a Round 1 debut though as Knights only wants to play guys at 100% fitness and Myers probably isn't going to be quite there. I wouldn't be surprised to see him come in around ANZAC Day time.

Tayte Pears has impressed with his big frame and excellent pace. He's training really well and seems to have the tools. I'm of the opinion that he won't play a big part in 2008 though. Not that he looks it, but he's only 17 and I think he might get found out a bit early on with his footy nous. Having watched in the Champs, I'm not sure his independent judgements are quite ready for AFL football. However, I'm expecting him to get a taste.

Darcy Daniher was the unlucky bloke that ran into Matthew Lloyd and dislocated his shoulder. He seems to have some work to do on his kicking and his body needs to tone up a fair bit, but he's got a bit, Darcy. The shoulder injury puts him behind the 8-ball as far as 2008 goes, and I think his best chance of senior footy is an end of season taste.

Cale Hooker came as a bit of surprise to most when his name was read out on draft day, and not surprisingly because he seems to have a fair way to go. He's a long way off being physically ready for AFL football, but his skills aren't too bad. He's got good height as well. It wouldn't come as a surprise if he's not sighted in the seniors until 2010 time.

John Williams hasn't joined the main group yet as he's still recovering from shoulder surgery. The word is that he'll be right by Round 1 when he'll probably plays bit pieces in the VFL. At this stage, he lacks bulk but he's apparently a very strong athlete and good above the shoulders. I wouldn't expect to see him in 2008.

Bellchambers joins the list as one to watch in 2009/10. He's big and well physically developed, but like most ruckmen his age, he'll take some time to get the fitness, to get used to rucking against bigger opponents and to get the right muscle. From all reports, he's training fairly well and his skills aren't bad.

Rhys Magin, due to being selected in the Rookie Draft, has had less time spent with the senior group but so far, it doesn't look like he's had any problems with the training load. His skills are certainly up to scratch, he's got a nice lip and some real nip about him. I can't see him featuring in 2008, but on natural ability, I think he could well be up to AFL football.

Jarrod Atkinson's been training with seniors from pretty much day 1 and whilst he hasn't stood out, he doesn't look like a weak link whatsoever. Given his fitness, and the fact that he's a mature age rookie, he might get a shot in the NAB Cup. I think he'll be up against it for an AFL career as he's got tough competition for promotion with Dean Dick probably being a more naturally talented, similar version to him.

I'd be looking our for the 2006 draftees to shine in 2008, more so than the 2007 draftees although Myers, and possibly Pears, could well play quite a number of games.
