Campbell can take a mark as good as roughy so if english isnt playing campbell must and boyd stays forward and backs them up.
Roughy is a MUCH better mark than Campbell

It's interesting that you mention that. I know Darcy Fogarty hasn't done much yet but I really like the look of him. I think he's a genuine KPF star in the making. He went at pick 12 so we could have drafted him instead of Naughton. A good size too - not your 200cm bean pole who is slow to develop and easily outbodied, but a chunky 193cm with strong marking ability, reasonable mobility and what looks like a very good kicking action when shooting for goal.Actually draft natural forwards, not mids who are stop gaps there.
The rumour that Beveridge actually wanted Fogarty last year in the first round shows that he acknowledges this.
He wanted the Fogarty who is at Geelong, Lachie Fogarty small pressure forward.Actually draft natural forwards, not mids who are stop gaps there.

Of course you are right, but Lachie Fogarty does look pretty good so far and he does suit or method and game style.Lol people actually keep saying they know who Bev wanted in the draft are completely full of sh!t.
1- that info would never get out
2- the coach would get any player available he says he wants
maybe, maybe not. They both average the same contested marks over their careers.Roughy is a MUCH better mark than Campbell
That's a pretty misleading stat though. No idea if this would help the Roughead argument, but you'd need to compare contested marks from when he moved from full back. He was a spoil first defender - as opposed to a marker such as Rance, so it might alter the data.maybe, maybe not. They both average the same contested marks over their careers.
What impact does 1 or 2 contested marks per game really give you when they aren't in the forward line? Not very much. What i'm trying to say is the difference between Roughy and Campbell around the ground would have no impact on the game. Yet Campbell averages double Roughy's hit outs which possibly will have an impact on the game.

If Richmond have money available for Lynch, then there’s got to be a lot of players getting very little there. Fast small forwards don’t earn much there’s got to be some gettable players this year to go after. The difference some genuine speed in the forward line would be huge.
Also need some pure goal kickers, they might have limitations but so do the current forwards if have no instinct around goals.
For years it’s the same sort of forward setup with everyone almost in touching distance of each other, spread them out and stop giving the opposition what they want which is less one on ones and more support.

Overuse the ball by hand making a forward structure redundant by the time we get it forward.Lol our method or style??!
Exactly what is that?
this is spot on!I think the lack of consistency in the side has really hurt the forward line. Partly due to coaching and injuries.
Forwards can't learn together or gel as a unit when it changes every quarter every week.
Wood was trialled forward and moved back. Natural forwards like Dickson, Redpath and Schache have been unavailable due to suspension/injuries.
Then we have a whole bunch who rotate through such as Dunkley, JJ, Bont, Lipinski etc but outside of Gowers nobody actually plays a solidified role as a forward.
Compare it against the top scoring sides like Adelaide and West Coast who week in week out you know who the forwards are. Walker, Betts, Jenkins, McGovern... Darling, LeCras, Kennedy, Cripps etc.
Our forward line is just Gowers and whoever turns up at the time.
This is why I said in the OP that we need to make a dominant KPF (preferably two of them) from those we have on our list. It means sacrificing their ruck role so that they learn their craft and the rest of the team learns how to work with them (delivering the ball, crumbing at their feet, leading to the pockets to draw third defenders, etc). The problem with the forward line is that we still don't have that gun key position forward who draws the ball. Obviously getting one of these is probably the hardest thing a recruiter can do. Even if we do it's likely the player will take years to come on.
In the meantime we have to make do with what we have:
Schache - I'm not convinced. looks to big and immobile for a key position. narrow body makes it hard for him to protect the ball (think Jack Darling as the opposite to this)
Redpath - doubtful he will ever get back to full fitness
Boyd - obvious potential but will always get pulled into the ruck
Gowers - small pinch-hitter
Greene - physically not there and not that tall anyway
Adams - prefer him down back
Cordy - prefer down back and struggles to kick 40m
Roughy - once again more of a ruck
Trengove - once again better down back

Very wrong on Schache
