I must have over-rated him as he has been very ordinary so far this year

I expected better and apart from 2 or 3 good things hasnt really shown much.

He'll be a candidate for de-listing at the end of the year.

Discuss.

now way a candidate for a delisting, the guy is good without being great. dont forget he is our best set shot atm and if the pies midfield can get the ball to his hands he is very good with it. i think keep him at the end of the year. someone who kicks 50+ goals in the afl and lead there club cant be that bad

Not in our best 22 at the moment. Depth player. Unless Thomas and Didak play in the midfield I don't think he has a permanent spot. He'll kick a bag somewhere along the line during the rest of this year though. If it happens to be in a final he'll be a hero.

6/10 so far for my rating.

I think Didak and Medhurst get in each others way when in the fwd 50, too simular type of player when they have the pill!!

Medhurst is being pushed up the ground a bit too, they are trying him around the midfield in certain games. His run into goal on the weekend should have been a goal, very dissapointing!!

Has to find his feet in a position I think. Is probably best suited to play out of the goal square, but with the other players we have at the moment he can not just play out of the square for 4 quaters.

1st 4 to 5 weeks i would give him 7 out of 10

then got injured

since then i'd say 4 out of 10.

I think because our younger kids have stepped up, it takes off some of the gloss that Meddes has given this year. Definatly someone to pursist with and should be given more time to do so.

He is exactly what I thought he'd be........depth player for the club. Certainly not in our best 22 but more than handy when injuries or suspension arises.

Somebody posted earlier he is probably best leading from the goal square and I'd agree with that.

I was eager to see how he'd perform in the wet on the weekend. Unfortunately, my doubts were founded that he may struggle.

I said at the start of the year he's in our best 25 but not our best 18, and I stand by that comment. Good depth player to have when our list is so inexperienced. Every week that goes by the inexperienced players get another game under their belts, and the need for depth players drops off. He needs to string a few games together rather than being dropped every second week, but in modern footy sometimes you dont get that luxury.

Season has been average at best. Not a good kick, terrible decision maker and is missing goals that a small forward must kick. Also has a tendency to do dumb things far to often (i.e. push opponenets out with hands).

Definately is a chance to be delisted at year end as next year you will have Egan and Rusling back to take his spot.

not in our best 22, in our top 5 kicks though, all he needs to do is mark the ball and have a shot from around 45M but his not doing that

Not sure he will be delisted .... it's only his 1st year after all and a lot of effort for him and club to get him over here. How long the the contract for anyway?

Now about him being a terrible decision maker and doing dumb things ... can't agree more. I dunno why people on this forum say he is a depth player? .... IMO he's not showing his experience and/or more to the point not picking up our game plan. Very happy with some of the 1%ers he has done but the mistakes he has made have out weighed them for sure. He just seems to be on a different page sometimes (erratic) and the results have been turn overs.

I hope he improves though. At the moment (IMO) he is not in our best 22 but I'm happy for him to come in for cameo roles and who knows, if he starts getting 2-3-4 goals along with some direct assists then sure why not be in our best 22. He really does need to get with the plan stan.

So the man who (from memory) led the AFL in goal assists last year and the man with some of the worst-decision making in the league are similar types of players? You have to be joking.

Medhurst probably won't be delisted since it looks bad delisting a player who we got in a trade only 1 year back, but should be imo.

Will stay for sure. Hasnt had a great year so far and may find himself on the outer when players come back but he has gone from a guy who would snap balls over his head at freo instead of giving off, too a player that looks to do the team things most times he gets the ball. Will take time for him to find his spot but can kick goals and hard to match up on. You dont delist players like that without giving them a chance.

he goes alright and he is a decent set shot.

the game with saints showed up two glaring flares i have been discussing with my mates all season:

1. he panicks when it aint a set shot. a number of times he just hoofed it at goal when more poise was required.

2. his BIG problem is that he refuses to arch his back and extend his arms when taking a mark on the lead. hes too short to attempt chest marks and bend his elbows, too many get spoiled.

i don't,

thought after his gutsy effort at the footy against freo that he might have turned,

He is the Stupidist footballer going around,

torps from 80, kicking to contests in the middle, he just isn't footy smart AT ALL

Have a look through our team and save for a couple of the older KP backs (Presti, Wakes, Jimmy), Medders is one of the only blokes who really only seems to have one position. I think Mick had a similar issue with Brodie Holland when he first arrived, and a few tagging jobs got him a midfield job and boosted his stock bigtime. I don't think Mick will keep him unless he can show he has more than one trick to offer in '08- it goes against the team's current philosophy and the demand for list positions is at an all-time high.

Has brain fades - at least once a week. Seems to have the ability to do the completly unexpected and wrong thing when we least need it. Something to work with though.

Must admit, he has been dissapointing the last 4 or 5 weeks.

He showed what he is capable of during the Richmond game. Sadly, he got injured there & apart from a couple of cameo moments here & there since, has hardly been sighted..

Nevertheless, I was spot on about him ( See My User Name)

He has been a MAGICIAN without doubt this year :thumbsu:

He goes absolutely missing for large portions of the game, David Copperfield look out :D

6/10 seems about right...maybe a little generous. You have to remember that this is a guy at a new club and due to injury he's been in and out of the side so he's probably still getting used to playing with the team. I think he needs to be closer to the goal square as he's a good crummer and a good over head mark for his size. I like him there as I prefer Thomas, Davis and Didak further up the ground where the can be more creative and get the ball into our forward 50 quicker. He really does need to lift his defensive pressure as forwards these days need to be willing to chase and harass defenders trying to rebound. He won't be delisted this year and probably not the next if he plays 2008 like he has so far, but if he wants to be in our 22 he needs to start producing more and doing more of the team things.
