Good episode but if only Kevin wasn't actually Kevin and was a different kind of character. Kevin does not fit in with the cast AT ALL. It is glaringly obvious how odd and out of place his character is. There is no chemistry between him and Robin and the rest of the cast. What happened to the guy Robin met in the shops when Ted bought those red cowboy boots? I remember Ted saying "but more about that guy later". Wouldn't it have been better if Kevin was this guy instead?

See just when you doubt the show it always manages to pull a move like that. It was fairly apparent that one of them wasn't going to do it.

Massive props to Barney for putting it all on the line with Robin. Genuinely feel for his character after that news, which has shown the show isn't quite dead. The show is at it's best when it mixes in the emotional element with its humour. It gives scenes gravity, they haven't pulled a punch like that since 'Bad News'.

Agreed.

Barney's character is showing the most growth lately it seems. Without him the show would be going nowhere.

The show has been leaning on Barney for at least the last year. You just have to look at how boring Ted and Marshall are now

I dunno about that, Ted's been pretty funny these last couple of eps and, in particular, they were pretty awesome trying to find Nachos at the concert last episode. There is still a lot of comedy and energy when it's just those two paired together (like when they're on the road trip in Arrivederci Fiero)

Yeh they're not total losers, but they're much less funny than they were in the earlier seasons- and as always much less funny and interesting than Barney is

I couldn't agree more. The casting of the Kevin character was all wrong and it just feels weird when he's with the group. I still wouldn't be surprised if that relationship ends soon and I really hope it does.

Oh the relationship will definitely end soon but its just the fact they've wasted time with him in the first place that bugs me. I keep thinking how earlier season Robin NEVER would've dated a guy like Kevin. She was dating like millionaires and shit. Robin was smoking hot and my impression of her was that she could pretty much get whoever she wanted. Now she's just gone downhill. At least Barney and Robin make much more sense than Robin and Kevin :\

Haha the camera footage of Ted and Marshall was hilarious. It seems the season is starting to pick up in quality now. :thumbsu:

As has been mentioned before, Kevin just seems out of place. His relationship with Robin, his interaction with the other guys, to the way he delivers his jokes- they just feel awkward and forced. Hopefully he's not around too much longer.

I'm interested to see how the triangle of Robin, Ted, and Barney sorts itself out, as it was mentioned in one of the earlier episodes that it didn't end well.

It's strange that this rumour keeps doing the rounds, that it doesn't "end well" between the 3 of them, because clearly Ted ends up married to someone else (The "Mother" we may never meet)

And in the voice overs while talking to the kids in the future, "Future Ted" always mentions Barney and Robin as "Uncle Barney" and "Aunt Robin", can't be too much of a bust up.

And yes, I too agree with the Kevin comments, completely unnecessary character, just has no chemistry with the regular cast at all IMO.

Loved it. The Barney and Ted storyline was great and the Lily/Marshall/Robin storyline made good use of the 'unreliable narrator' technique. Good ending as well, I guess this is where the wedding comes into the storyline.

The shrunken apartment was a classic HIMYM trope that they use so well. Was funny each time Robin knocked over a lamp, "haven't you two heard of overhead lighting?"

Ghostbusters reference: a million points

Radnor and NPH made their B-story hilarious. "You'll just have to get a third nanny... Dibs on the third nanny!"

Classic episode. Last week started the revival, this week nailed it. No Kevin helped too.

Pretty much this. It was a relief getting to watch the episode not wanting to punch my screen. Although if it somehow happens that Kevin is the dad and becomes a permanent part of the cast I'll rage. Luckily I don't think that's going to happen.

I didn't mind the episode, but I thought the mother joke ran it's course about halfway through. I liked Robin in this one.

But given the title of the episode, I was expecting something different.
