How is Cameron White getting a game?

Thats the whole problem, he doesnt want to do that coming in earlier in the innings and he seems to try and take the role of hitter as his so when he comes in well before the team wants to take its powerplay he just tries to survive

If the top order was better then he would be right, he has a good record at no5 but I imagine most of his runs there are after the top 4 have managed to bat for about 35 overs. He however also loves no3 where he can go at his own pace right from the start

That's where Clarke had him when he was skipper. Ponting dropped him down the order to re-establish himself at first drop and it hasn't worked. Ponting is resistant to change so I don't see him re-ordering the line-up.

Let's face it we're an ordinary team who hasn't beaten anyone of note in this tournament. Sri Lanka had the better of us and we were uncompetitive against the Pakkies. It's not just one player being sub par.

Perhaps we should drop him to 6 or hold him back until the 35th over?

Our top order would also be stiffer with Hussey at 5.

He's obviously batting to instruction, and they shouldn't have messed with something that was working in the first place.

Well I am going off the expectation that Ponting wont be going on after this in One dayers so he should get no3, however in Australia it was actually Clarke who took that spot with Ponting out so wouldnt be suprised if he takes it again

Australia seems against changing the order up, they have tried a couple of times to throw in blokes to hit out earlier and it failed but that seems to put them off any changes

They would be alot more flexible with David Hussey instead of Steve Smith in the side, Dussey could also go up if they lost earlier wickets, but it always suprised me to see them leaving him back for the hitting role and White in earlier

As for dropping him, they cant because they didnt pick anyone in the squad who could take his spot. Dussey is really only an option to replace Smith or maybe even a top order batsman with White moving up, Ferguson well he looked very bad in the practice match against spin and they dont feel confident in playing him and now probably regret taking him

 after 1 practice match when the guy has an average in the mid 40's? They lose faith?

Get rid of Smith. He is a dud at this level. Bat White at 7 and bring in Junior Hussey then move Senior up to 4 in front of Clarke.

That dud Smith brings more to the team than White.

In what way? white is out of form, but smith has never been in form, smith has been carried in ODI's, 20/20 and tests.

what does he bowl? 3 overs a game to the tail usually?

dhussey > white > smith

Well, i defended White for quite a while over the summer, but not anymore. T Paine is on tour right? Bring him in.

dhussey > white > smith

ferguson > dussey > smith > white

white is an absolute waste of space. no excuses any more. today they batted him down the order. last 10 overs. licence to open up. what does he do? fail again. we never learn. hanging on to these spuds until the damage is done

Actually came in with about 17 overs to go, should have sent Duss in

White's pitiful WC reads 70 runs, highest score 22 at an average of 17. Deadset may as well play Johnson as a batter.

How many excuses can you make for this hack? His selection is a disgrace.

First you say he needs to be up the order. Fails. Then you change your argument and say he needs to be closer to the end of the innings. Fails.

Face it, your desperate scrobbling is a joke. White is not good enough. Your last, desperate, pathetic gasp was one lucky innings against India ages ago, well, that's what it was, lucky - tonight is the real White, the one with the shit technique who good teams have figured out how to bowl to.

Should be dropped, and should not be back for a very long time. Embarrassing under pressure.

Just shows that despite the love fest over in South Australia, no one else rates Ferguson, get over it
Sorry mate. You're a joke. Ferguson is a much better ODI cricketer than White - he can actually strike at 100 from the first moment. White, quite obviously, is incapable of dealing with pressure bowling.

Replace South Australia with Victoria, and Ferguson with White and you do realise you have the same scenario?

Difference is even Victorians are smarting up to Cameron Shite now as well
