How much whinging will a Geelong premiership bring?

It's a fairly remarkable statistic that their past 25 finals have been played Victoria. From those 25, 4 were Grand Finals, only 3 were 'away' finals as the lower ranked team and the remaining 18 were home finals, so there's no argument whether they have earned it - it's just a fortunate quirk that every time they've played 'away' its been to a Melbourne based side. This week is the first interstate final they've had since the Nick Davis game.

What exactly is this thread about? How you may have to put up with some hypothetical online devaluing of your achievement if you win the flag?

If you posted this in the bay (where it deserves to be), you'd be torn to shreds princess.

None from me.

If they win from here they deserve it.
Have to agree - if you win a flag, you thoroughly deserve it. Very difficult to do, even for good sides.
The more time elapses, the more amazing hawthorn's recent era will become.
Last year the Bulldogs didn't 'fluke ' if, and whoever gets this year's flag hasn't benefited from a weak year, all flags are thoroughly earned.

Geelong haven't been a threat since 2011. Good side, make finals consistently but aren't the real deal. Rely too much on a few and have bugger all depth. Question marks on the coach also.
2013 the exception. If Varcoe didn't panic we would've levelled the score against Hawthorn and gone into overtime with all of the momentum. Keep in mind we were without 2 top 5 players in this game also.

No matter who won that was beating Freo the next week. Again another Hawthorn beating Geelong where it matters situation.

Given that we've made 8 preliminary finals in the last 11 years, won 75% of our games and won 3 flags, a lot of people are understandably sick of us dominating year in, year out.

There seems to be a lot of angst being directed at us as a result, and I feel us winning the premiership this year will be the straw that breaks the backs of a lot of football supporters, particularly Hawks and Crows supporters.

Thoughts?

Not really. Would much rather see Dangerfield with a premiership medallion than the Swans.
