I really wouldn't read anything into it. He was a basketball convert in his 1st season that Grant clearly didn't rate but had to play as he was on the list. He had some decent games at VFL level that year as well (otherwise he wouldn't have even been on our radar), so I'm guessing this was early on.
Of course he wants to stay. But if he gets a 5 year deal for $3m from another club he will probably leave because we won't offer that.

He better.... I'lll be so pissed if the Club musses this up. He's 27, wants to stay is a big athletic forward who is improving in leaps and bounds and can ruck a bit - what is there not to like? Name me a replacement like for like anywhere in the league who wants to come to us without years of development needs.

I dunno. Teams have started sticking a taller defender on Betts at times. Scott D. Thompson, Alex Rance, Dale Morris, all guys who've matched up on Betts this year.
What is the point in even bringing this up before the event, when it is more than likely JJ will stay?

True, but Reid being fairly new I'm willing to cut him some slack, but if we lose another player than heads seriously have to roll especially as Jenkins has expressed his wish to stay at the club.

Talks between Connors and the club probably have stopped for now due to Connors other commitments. He probably just leaked talks have stopped to ramp up a bidding war and put pressure on the Crows to up there game. If he gets 3 or 4 clubs offering 4 year - 5 year deals at $600k-$700k or even more a year its massive leverage for the Crows to come to the party which appears is what will happen in the end.

Sorry, I thought I inferenced that talks have stopped because of other commitments not because of stalled negotiations, talks haven't officially stopped, I think Connors is just being lose with the truth to up the ante on any bidding war. I think he underestimated the current mental state of Crows supporters and how we demand answers from the club about the possibility of another player leaving and hence Riccuito has had to come out and publicly deny Connors strategy.
I think one thing we do know is that you can't read anything into players' public statements. If he is staying, he will say he wants to stay. If he is going, he will say he wants to stay, or some other platitude that doesn't mean anything but keeps everyone happy. "I'm loving my footy, Adelaide's a great city, so I can't see why I'd want to leave" or some rubbish like that.
I'm not saying he's going, just that him saying he wants to stay doesn't persuade me in the slightest.
Hopefully we can get this one done and then the media will wake up to the fact that Brad Crouch is out of contract as well and start banging on about him.
Ah yes, but make no mistake, Pendlebury is being looked after in a manner that will at bare minimum, match GWS. Vic clubs do this best, especially the big Vic clubs.
