Death. Taxes. The Demons being an absolute powerhouse of the competition.

These are the things from life we should expect. After the Demons' perhaps unparalleled home and away run over the last several seasons, plus a cheeky premiership, we have certainly become accustomed to the delightfully devilish winning Demon brand.

But these are uncertain times, and things aren't the same as they used to be.

Indeed, the Demons haven't been quite right recently. Sitting on top of the ladder after eight rounds with a 6-2 record, things have since gone, well, a little askew.

Round 9
Baghdad Bombers 17.8 (110) defeated Mount Buller Demons 14.10 (94)

A disappointing loss to the Bombers after a heated match thread.

Round 10
Mount Buller Demons 9.3 (57) lost to Roys FFC 12.3 (75)

A three goal defeat to the Roys at home. Back-to-back losses - strange.

Round 11
Las Vegas Bears 18.7 (115) defeated Mount Buller Demons 16.9 (105)

A close game, but a narrow loss to the Bears. The first time the Demons had lost three in a row since the very start of Season 25.

Round 12
Fighting Furies 17.11 (113) defeated Mount Buller Demons 9.11 (65)

Losing to the Furies of all teams? Well this just won't do.

Having slid from a game clear on top of the ladder to outside the top four in just a month, the Demons needed a leader. Somebody to stand up. A fearless, experienced full forward, admired and respected league-wide.

Unfortunately we only had Tarkyn_24's seven goals - we needed more. Let's take a look at the final moments of the crucial Warriors v. Demons battle on the weekend.

4 : 24.14 {CHB} - Gets a handpass away to DemonJim.
4 : 24.18 {lW} - A flat punt.
4 : 24.22 {lW} - Anybody's ball.

4 : 24.47 {lHFF} - zackah can't mark but is able to bring the ball to ground.

JUST SECONDS LEFT. THE DEMONS NEED A HERO TO HOLD ON.

4 : 24.51 {rHBF} - manangatang fighting to get a clear kick.
4 : 24.55 {rW} - Hands it off to Callums_Guns.
4 : 24.57 {rW} - Callums_Guns has time to take a bounce.

SIREN SOUNDS FOR THE END OF QUARTER 4

And there is our hero. Read that passage of play again. Read it a third time. Our hero is clear.

Headless.

Yes, that's right. League favourite Headless. Bloody done it again.

With the losing streak CONQUERED by a single behind, who kicked the winning behind (the previous quarter)? That's right. Bloody Headless.

My good friend Loonerty once told me that losing four in a row has a bright side - it practically guarantees a four-game winning streak the next month. So prepare yourselves, friends, for the Demons are coming, and I'm calling it right here and now: we're winning the flag.

Let the celebrations begin! 💃

P.S. Thank you Callums_Guns for your ongoing support and for noting this extreme act of bravery. Truly an All-Sweet FA performance from an impact player.

Landfill.

This is literally worse than the ClarkeM threads.
No it’s great Helen.

I think you need to mention my amazing torp plus how clever my last hit out was a bit more though.

All I read there was “12-game rookie has three inside-50’s in the last two minutes of the match in a brave attempt to grab his team by the scruff of the neck and drag them to a win again a higher-rated opponent”.

Kicked it over your teammates head. Defense mops it up.

Dropped a sitter.

Then kicked one your teammate couldn't mark. Defense mops it up.

Kicking a behind in the premiership quarter to break the streak just unbelievable

Furthermore doing the thread in Season 7 font / format simply a trendsetter

Bloody done it again.

Hi Headless, congrats on the win and your role in breaking the streak. I suspect the cause of the unhappy streak was a delayed reaction to the loss the Demons had against the Wonders in our historic Foundation Cup match.

Ta for giving me credit for your win. Not sure I did much.

Please. We at the Demons don’t deal in #fakenews

Welcome home Elton Johns Wig , I look forward to playing alongside you next season.

Even if Elton Johns Wig opts to a struggling Club like yours, I doubt he would go to the Demons. Wherever he goes Wiggy is now forever a Wonder in heart spirit and would not stoop to play for the Dees.

Heh. An awkward post on many levels.
