Rd 18 – The Filth Wizard
Coney Island Warriors v East Side Hawks at Van Cortlandt Park
A genuine blockbuster between the two teams that would eventually finish 2nd and 3rd on the ladder it was the Hawks that ran out winners against a team they would also do a number on a week later. The Warriors never really were able to find their way into the game and despite a last quarter flourish it was a 19 point margin separating them in the end. PhenomenalV1 was as it says on the label, absolutely destroying the Warriors with a maestro performance and Loonerty wasn’t at all bad either. For the Warriors, stalwarts Tonga Bob and TheInjuryFactory would hold their hearsd high.

Roys FFC v Baghdad Bombers at Brunswick Junction Oval
A match with spoon ramifications as the Bombers had to travel to Brunswick and they did all they could to prevent it, despite a first quarter fail as the Roys kicked 5 to 2. The Bombers worked tirelessly to catch up and found themselves on the end of a winning margin with a 7 goal third term, holding off the Roys fast finish with the last goal of the game and a 7 point win to end their campaign. Lunar, Grav and MayTheNorthBeWithU will figure for the Bombers but fitzroybowiedog was a mincing machine in the middle, the grinder finding his way to 15 massive tackles.

Dragons FFC v Gold City Royals at Ljp86's Lair
Two contenders found themselves at odds in this blockbuster fixture where the former Dragon Island had shelved its jetpacks for the Royals to arrive with one thing on their minds. And for a long time, it seemed they were going to get what they wanted leading for much of the game until the Dragons put 12 scoring shots on to lead by 9 points at the full time siren. @GreyCrwo, Cadsky and rookie manicpie were up for it with huge games but it was DragoDelph and Drizzy ready to respond with the game on the line.

Las Vegas Bears v West Coast Wonders at The Stadium in the Sky
A see-sawing encounter after the main break, this game started with the Bears hoping to make a statement as they fought to avoid the wooden spoon. No doubt there were some sweaty Bears come three quarter time as the Wonders fought back valiantly only to finally stumble at the last hurdle, conceding the game by 7 points. Keeping the animal theme Cubs2Lions and dogs105 were on fire for the Wonders however kane249, Millky95 and SSSSSS may get the chocolates here.

Gumbies FFC v Sin City Swamprats at The House of Gumby
The Rats rolled into The House Of Gumby with one plan. Win. And if they can’t, don’t get flogged. Well, one thing worked for them and they were able to escape without a massive dent to their percentage as the Gumbies climbed to 5th in an important win for the club leading into finals. It was Brick Loosener and cats_09 doing the damage for the Gumbies while damicky stood tall in a week where worse news was to come.

Mount Buller Demons v Ophidian Old Boys at The Snow Dome
Win and finish top. That easy. It really was in the end as the Demons smashed the OOB who were in alien territory (mid table). It’s better to talk about the performances. cartwright with 9 goals in a star maker. Wosh, Hate and moginie on destruct mode. For the Old Boys it was unheralded kenneyswarriors and Over The Post putting up but unfortunately everyone else around them shut up and the Demons were able to romp into the minor premiership as those around them fell over.
