Haha, just got a picture of a truck in the distance on a freeway (couldn't see a numberplate), ended up being in South Australia, and I guessed the US...

First one I got was on some road in the sticks, saw a street sign which I hoped would give me some kind of clue but it was just a number.

Only 7053 off so not bad.

3rd go was some dirt road, guessed Yorke Peninsula and it was actually just outside Renmark so not bad! Just under 305ks off.

Quality of the road and also paint markings should give you a few hints as to where it might be

i.e good road surface and white markings you can normally bet its somewhere in aus.

good road and yellow markings and you're somewhere in the US/Can

Closest was a couple of hundred kms. Guessed in Ohio but it was in Toronto. Furthest was a guess in Germany . Ended up being in Botswana .:drunk:

14,017 is my top score so far. Wasn't a whole lot of variety given that 3 were in Russia but boosted my score by being 6km off of a beach in Okinawa and about 100km from a lake near Vancouver. Got a highway that looked to be in the midwest of the US but turned out to be in Russia.

To be fair, it was a pretty easy group.
A - There was a sign with a map of Texas on it.
B - Was dropped on a road with a shit ton of cornfields on it. Guessed Iowa, was Illinois. Close enough.
C - Hardest one. Was obviously in Russia, so just took a guess. Amazed I got so close.
D - Got lucky. Knew it was in Australia, and eventually found a sign that said Bathurst - 11km, and Orange - 42km. I know where Bathurst and Orange are, so had a good idea. Ended up 7km away.
E - Found a flag of Thailand, took a stab.

I had a road completely covered in potholes. Guessed a random point in Russia and was only 7 kms off! Roads definitely give a lot away.

(Especially when you go past a bus which has its destination on the front!)

I got one surrounded by all these mansions, next to the ocean. So I went clicking, and found those houses that you'd normally see in the Netherlands.
These ones.

So I took a guess. Turns out it was some island called Miyakojima that's part of Japan :drunk:

Took a bit of a punt for the Czech and Danish ones. Recognised a slavic and a nordic language but wasn't quite sure which ones but got lucky (very lucky for Denmark). Got Croatia because I recognised Slavic writing by a beach but could've cracked 20,000 had I not ****ed up by mistaking the northwest US with the top of Scotland.

Anyone else had a place with water in view all around and then it turns out its inland somewhere in the states with no water/lakes to be seen??

Pretty cool game that gives you 5 360 images of a place in the world and you have to guess where it is.

My high score is 12,861 and closest guess just over 4km!

Is this Jindabyne in New South Wales? The one near Canberra and Wagga? I saw a girl a few times from there once. One night down the pub she told me how the entire town was moved, and that the old Jindabyne is now under a lake – like schools and town halls and houses were literally deserted and everyone moved up the hill. I was astounded!

I didn't message her for about six weeks and one night in a smoker's room at a club I got a random call from a random number, phoned them back, and some bloke tells me, on her behalf, to never text her again because "that ship has sailed" and she's no longer keen. It was insane and I have no idea what the go was. But I'll never be able to think of that town again without remembering this weird, weird bird.

Haha yeah that's the one. I stayed there for a week during a school ski trip, if it's any consolation it's a bit of a dump.
