Always wanted to see him there after he took 2 strong marks and kicked 2 goals a couple of years ago.
Mybe now with a couple of emerging KPB he can be the next swing man.
He reads the play well , will never be out muscled and is a good kick.

I like hearing the odd left field idea. May be just crazy enough to work.

Bulldogs did that with Lake on the weekend, didn't they? And he kicked a goal.

It'll only happen if we're playing a side with a weak forward line, or Brown and McKenzie have got it under wraps so much that Glass isn't needed.

Are we going to draw a line through a few premiership players at the end of this year?

Yes. Fletcher, Hunter and Seaby gone. Bones is another one that could go with players like McKenzie, Hurn and Brown cementing spots.

Hansen will be nothing more than a second backup.

You'd think Stenglein may be in and out of the team most of next year. Staker may struggle to get back in at all.

McGinity - Glass - A.Selwood
Butler - Mackenzie - Hurn
Ebert - Swift - Houlihan
LeCras - Kennedy- Notte
Brown - McKinley - Kerr

Naitanui - Masten - Shuey

Cox - Waters - S.Selwood - Rosa

Gunnar Longshanks gets his way, McKinley is the best option as FF.

Notte and Brown are both very mobile so i dont see them as the same sought of liability in defense as Hansen, Wilson and McKinley.

FB: Waters, McKenzie, Davis
HB: Glass, Brown, Hurn
C: Rosa, A.Selwood, Houlihan
HF: Ebert, Kennedy, LeCras
FF: McKinley, Lynch, Havent drafted yet

Ruck: Naita, Kerr, Masten

Interchange: Scooter, Cox, Butler, Priddis, Shuey, Notte

Id like to see this team make finals, ill prey its next year but more then likely the year after that. Glass giving up his FB position for a third tall/floating defender position would be a major boon, he reads the play well can take a good mark and just knows when to leave his defender and help out the defence. We will more then likely plonk a midfielder in the spare FP position but I am loathe to do that.

Still allot of spare spots in the list that can change, Waters, Davis, Houlihan, Shuey, Butler, and Scooter could all be over taken by either a hard working rookie, suprise late pick or early first round pick from next year or the year after. The rest of them though have pretty much cemented there positions (Rosa just doing enough each week). Shuey and Notte are on a very extended interchange bench as they are rated but unknowns.

This season has raised more questions than it has answered in terms of who the Eagles see as being important players to their future IMO.

The following team is composed of the players who IMO have shown, this year, that they are likely to be good players in 3 years or so.

FB: A. Selwood Glass ????
HB: Hurn Mackenzie S. Selwood
C: Rosa Kerr Swift
HF: Ebert Brown LeCras
FF: ???? Kennedy ????

Fol: NN Masten Kerr
Int: Cox Lynch ???? ????

Looking at that team, the thing we lack is raw pace. It's a good thing we got 4 of the top ten fastest 18-year olds last year in NN, Shuey, Smith and Swift.

Amazing.

Two Kerr's!! Your midfeild must be unstoppable

What's the consensus on Houlihan, Cockie and McGinnity?

Have they impressed enough to enter into this conversation?

Houlihan certainly has. Averaging 23 possessions. He uses the ball well but most importantly hes the best athlete we have in the squad. Fast and runs all day. Modern day wingman. Very versatile as he plays anywhere from back pocket to HFF. Next year I have him being used as a impact player. Bring him in off the bench and use his gut busting running from stoppage time to really run forward and create a option.

McGinnity showed enough to say hes gonna be in our best 28 or so and a great backup when injuries occur. A hard nut who does his tagging job.

Cockie IMO wont make it. Not next year anyway as his shoulder is bunged. ATM hes just a bit too simialr to Jamie MCNamara who is struggling except McNamara has ALOT more pace on him. I dont see the hype personally

McGinnity probably the most likely, if only to take the tagger role. But in two years times I wouldn't want them to be in our 22, they all have pretty average/poor disposal.

Houlihans disposal is fine. Id rather him kicking the ball than Swift, Ebert, Rosa. Infact id say his disposal is one of his strong points. Rarely misses a target and if he does its always to the advantage of our own player

He's good over short distances but his kicking penetration drops off over 30m and hampers kicking to a forward. He's better than Rosa though.

With his speed and gut running he never really needs to kick the ball more than 30m however. Id back him to outrun alot of midfielders in the game.
