How will the 2 trips down to Hobart impact on our draw??

We travel 6 times this year plus down to Geelong. It includes the trip down to Launceston aswell which weve done 5 out of the last 6 years. So given that we travel to QLD, NSW, and rotate twice thru WA and SA on average im just wondering if this will stay the same or not.
With the Tassie games coming in will we still travel have to do a double trip to another state?
Im fine with travelling once to WA, SA, QLD and NSW to verse one of the teams there. Its only fair. But along with the Tassie games the club should state we want 9 home games in melbourne, 2 replacement home games and 4 away games.
Where i think well be shafted is well have to play Hawthorn down in Tassie taking our travel to 7 and also have to play Geelong down at Skilled meaning 14 Melbourne games.
Id accept a rotation of a trip down to Skilled and a trip down to Launy rotating every 2 years but obviously wed prefer to play the Cats and Hawks in Victoria but lets be realistic cause were talking about the AFL and the draw.
I can only hope we dont get shafted.

Not too concerned. Hopefully it means we do the long trips less often. Also, I'd think GWS and GCS will provide a couple of extra W.A. games per year between them.

Back when we played home games in the Gold Coast I believe we played away games outside Victoria four times a year.

With more non-Victorian teams, along with this deal having less games than the Gold Coast deal as well as the shorter travel distance compared to having to go to the Gold Coast I'd expect 5-6 per year still, along with a trip to Geelong (and possibly an away game in Tasmania against Hawthorn?).

This Geelong shit has to stop. Getting ridiculous.

As long as we can pay our way out of Dedt, and make money to improve our club then I am very happy with this deal, I think we would play a GC or GWS in Tas, and get payed for it, Wow.

And that's why you catch a flight to watch every NMFC Melbourne Game.:thumbsu:

No the fact that Im recently out of uni, not getting much money, cant afford the accomodation and would have to in fact take time off work to go is why I dont.

But keep on trolling, your futile attempts are amusing :thumbsu:

Thats the thing- the trip down to Tassie isnt long so will the AFL keep our longer trip schedule as it is?
Plus with the sponsorship deal the way it is well probably have to go by boat down to Tassie so there kills the short flight argument:rolleyes:

I wouldn't mind if we still had the same interstate games (don't even mind two trips to WA).
What i would mind is if we still play at Skilled AND Aurora stadiums in the same year.

Verse is part of a poem or song. This is a complete misuse and false abbreviation of the latin word versus meaning opposite. In this context it is not a word. One of my pet hates. We are playing one of the teams there. End of English lesson.

I await the flood.

And let me finish the sentence off for you.

...why I don't "travel".

But it is hardly travel hey?

A trip to Tasmania is still an interstate trip. A polished dump is still a piece of shit. A hash brown is a glorified potatoe cake. etc etc and so on. :stern look

If you forgive me you can put 'play' in there for me instead:thumbsu:

I've tried to do a bit of that from Launy but the plane flight times often make it difficult to do with work etc. Otherwise I would!

It's not just flight times, it's the stuff around time it takes to get on and off the damn flight. That's where all the hours are. Only 40 mins of flying maybe, but hours of driving, parking, checking in, waiting to board, delays, getting off, waiting for bags, the list goes on.

The flight to Tassie might be 40 mins but combined, it probably takes just as much time to get to Tassie as it takes to get to Adelaide, Sydney or even the Gold Coast and Brisbane.

On saying that, I'll be visiting :thumbsu:

If our Melbourne members don't get any special deals for the Tassie seats (and I don't expect any), then there will be no extra incentive to visit Tassie as opposed to any other of our interstate games, which somehow seems wrong.

The Aurora game is staying. That's actually a bit of a positive I reckon, gets us more exposure in Tassie and it doesn't come our of Melbourne's home game quota. Could possibly lead to a 3 game membership of types for the Tassie folk.

It would be interesting to see what type of packages are put together for our new friends. A 2 game, 3- game with Launnie, or a combination of Tassie and Melbourne.

On a side note, and this may sound ludicrous but I'll shoot anyway...Would playing games of football in the cold actually aid in the recovery process?

I'm sure a trip to Bellerive will be a little less hostile than one to Football Park or Subiaco.

Besides Tassie is a much more palatable destination that Adelaide, Perth or Brisbane.

I love Tassie, but I am not sure that a weekend (especially long one) on Gold or Sunshine Coast with the family is such a bad idea in the middle of winter.

Yep but its hardly travel at all. :stern look

Interesting to think that the 40 minute flight and travel to and from airport etc is a hassle.
Travelling from NW Tassie (anywhere west of Devonport) is a 3 to 4 hour proposition to get to Hobart. Factor in accommodation etc, many of us up here would rather spend a little more and fly to Melbourne. Treat it like a mini holiday. I take my family of 5 at least once a year to Melbourne, plus the Launnie game (which despite us all being members have to pay for tickets). I also try to get over to Melbourne for other games. Going to Hobart for us is more inconvenient for us than going to Melbourne, and much worse for Circular Head and West Coast residents.
That said, we will all still go to Hobart to watch games. If you know that we play interstate (Tas or anywhere else), and want to watch us play, you will go anyway.
You might also be surprised by the amount of supporters that are down here - sure the Hawks have done well with their memberships in Tassie, but it always surprises me how many Roo supporters there are in Tassie. The amount of Royal blue and white at Aurora always amazes me, even to the stage that I sometimes think we outnumber the Hawks.
