Easier to get a draw when playing at your home ground as opposed to travelling to a venue where barely any of your team have played before.

As for Carlisle, he's an overrated hack and actually deserved to get that head high hit. Maybe it might knock some sense or football ability into him.

Pretty sure Essendon wanted to keep him, it was Carlisle's decision to leave, a number of other clubs were keen on him too but he chose St Kilda.

I can't think of any big fish that Freo have landed recently, guys like Bennell and Sylvia both came with significant baggage so no one else wanted them.

The difference was Saints had the home ground advantage and the umpires, Freo didn't. Also.... you lost to Norf.
