St Kilda set to hand coach Alan Richardson contract extension

ALAN Richardson is on track for an early contract extension as a key show of faith from St Kilda’s powerbrokers.
The fourth-year coach is yet to lift St Kilda into the finals but has been methodically building a list towards a premiership window.
St Kilda chief executive Matt Finnis confirmed on Wednesady the club would soon start discussions with Richardson’s management.
He is contracted until the end of 2018 but with the Saints adamant he is their man, he will not go into next year without more security.
Finnis said the Saints would not be hurried with the extension but were on the same page as Richardson.
“It is certainly on our mind and we are very confident Richo is our man for the long term,’’ he said.
“We know it’s just a matter of what is the right time to have that conversation and what that starts to look like going forward.
“They are all conversations to have internally and at the right time we will do those.”

If they were scrapping into finals and then getting thrashed they could at least say they were rewarding mediocrity, but they can't even do that under Rickman. They are happy with him swimming in shitness outside finals.

See.... 3 rounds in, Hawks were bottom, Your mob was in the bottom 4. Potentially your mob could of had 2 top 5 picks. That would of been good for the saints.
Now Hawks are moving up on the ladder. I can see Hawks snatch your teams 8th spot and your mob finishes 9th. Yeah your mob will get 2 1st rounders... More likely picks 10 and 11 now rather than pick 1 and 2.

I think Richo is a potato, the worst coach in the AFL so he is more shit than Buckley. I also think the Saints list is average, no superstars once Crywoldt hangs up his panties. Need a rebuild.
Anything above a spoon is a win for the saints, so richo is improving quite nicely for them

I shift between thinking "Get rid of him" and "Maybe we need stability." I dunno. If Clarko was on the market... I'd tell Richo "We've packed your bags for you. The security guard will hand them to you outside the gate," so it didn't interrupt the welcome party for Clarko.

Any club would sack their coach to get Clarko if he was on the market but as it stands there aren't many quality coaches waiting in the wings.
No point sacking your coach and replacing him with a coach that's no better or even worse.

What do you mean doesn't acknowledge? that will be changing because unlike Failmantle/Bond/Lyon, the Eagles will actually do a rebuild. If you keep even Johnson or Ballas into 2018 then can you really call it a rebuild at Failmantle?
Either way, no matter what the average age is, Failmantle will still not kick goals because you refuse to trade/draft or pay for a forward, especially after you shelled out massive money for Natalie to finish up as Pav v2
