was having a discussion the other day about which departure will hurt which club the most. Mainly talking about the top 3 from last year. Be interested in other peoples thoughts the players we came up with were.
Jindera: Hilton Murray Stubbs
Osborne: Hart Bahr Flanagan Litchfield
Culcairn: Logue, Brown Schuberg

some big names there but for mine i would have to say Litchfield from Osborne. Has been possibly the best CHB/FB in the league in past few years. I know bomber struggled against him more then others and i'm not sure if Osborne have replaced him.
thoughts:

Interesting point you have brought up. Before Saturday I thought Jindera's losses were more significant than Osborne's - especially no Hilton. But they seem to have covered them better than Osborne in that it still looks like they have huge scoring powere where as Osborne are a bit stretched at both ends, especially whilst McKelvie is not playing.

The players you mention to have left the 3 top clubs are all guns, it shows they have either recruited well again to replace them or maybe they have been soo far ahead for the the last few years it doesn't matter too much. Either way you have to give those 3 clubs credit. But it also means the comp may be just a bit more even this year which we will find out in the next few weeks. Is there many other good players to leave the comp? Like the ovens and murray seemed to have alot of turn over of top line players this year, hopefully it doesn't become the 'norm' for the off season as recruiting and player retention seems to be an issue across the board??

McPherson (2009 Azzi medallist), Kohlhagen (Walla B&F about 896 times, gun), Whiterod (Rep league ruckman). They are the blokes just off the top of my head, I'm sure there is more.

What Doesnt help is when you get Developed Clubs pushing for a premiership poaching young locals from developing clubs and offer them something that they know the developing club won't be able to match.....Prime Example Culcairn convincing young Hueske to come 15 kms down the road from Walla!! The bloke played all his junior footy with walla!! Just a bit of a dog act i feel....thats just my opinion though

Hardly wat i call a dog act, mate of hueskes for years and i think there is a lot more to it than him not wanting to get flogged, in fact i dont think that had anything to do with him leaving, when he went to culcairn he was living in wagga doing tafe and is very good mates with ben schulz who was also living in wagga i beleive. If you wanna talk about dog acts and loyalty, at least he had the balls to ring and tell the club he wouldnt be playing here( walla) this year, which is more than any of the other 15 or so that left had the balls to do.

Just Seems to be very suss to me...all well and good doing tafe in wagga but I would hardly say that that qualifies as reason to leave a club considering Walla is only 15 minutes further down the road also My Mail was that he infact didnt inform the club that he was leaving and President Gary Mickan heard it 3rd person, Which was the same story with Kolhagen where the first the committee heard of him leaving for GGGM was reading it in the paper....Just think its one of those problems in Country footy today with locals leaving for bigger and brighter things. Which makes me wonder is there such thing as loyalty anymore in the sport??????...looking at the scoreboard from Walla Vs Magpies on saturday, It seems as though there will be a massive disparency between first and last, I dont look forward to seeing the scoreboard when they play the likes of Jindera or Osborne!!

I know for a fact that he did ring the club mate. Sounds like your "sources" are not so much that, but more like good, old gossip that circulates round. Never let facts get in the way of a good story eh!?

You would think a club would take it upon themselves to contact players of such a quality as Kohlhagen well before the news came out about his move. Don't clubs usually meet with current players to renegotiate contracts and payments?

Maybe so, but if your going to leave a club, you would think its just common courtesy to let them know

**** me would you blokes stop talkin shit an look at what a year of footy were in for in the hume this year!!wide open i think

Who cares, so over reading about this rubbish. honestly........new subject.
Looking at the ladders, and results walla in for a very tough weekend in both grades against the BB saints. Speaking of the ladder, would be the first time for a while since Murray Magpies have been on top of the ladder!

I'm with you Might 'N Power, but I don't want to let this go without defending Roley Kohlagen.
I play for an opposition club in the Hume league and dropped around at his place to go for a run the night after Walla had come around to see him about his plans for 2010.
Walla told him they would get back in touch in 2 weeks. He waited 10 weeks and still hadn't heard back from anyone.
He then told a committeeman that he would be moving on.
It's pretty hard to bag the bloke for that.
With this sort of communication, it's easy to see why 15 have moved on.
I hope Roley never goes back after this rubbish.
As for loyalty, Merv Wegener did play for other clubs and president Gary Mickan played for Henty.

from what i have heard , the new commitee dont like getting back to existing players and just think they were all going to stay . A player of kohlhagens ability i would have thought would be on top of wallas list to keep considering what he has done at the club for the past 7 years since he came back from albury yet from what i hear he hasnt been spoken to by anyone from walla since a meeting was held back in october ,so what was he meant to do,wait till round 1. Sounds like the recruiting commitee have a bit to answer for and not the players that left.

Anyway on to this weeks games, anyone got any predictions?

On the Move

STAR Osborne full-forward Brendon McKelvie has opened the door on a possible return to Coolamon for the second half of the Riverina Football League season.
McKelvie is unsure about his football future due to work commitments and will not make a decision until the June 30 clearance deadline.

Coly to beat Maggies at home - 35 points
Henty to just get over Holbrook - 4 points
Jindera to edge Howlong - 17 points
Culcairn always seem to have close ones with Lockhart so I'll go with them in a tight game- 8 points
Osborne not by much over RW - 15 points
Have no idea about CDHBU or BC, but I'll go CDHBU simply because they are at home - 10 points
BB domination over Walla - 160 points

Interesting to see the game between Howlong and Jindera this weekend, might have to get there to see it if i get a chance, should be a cracker of a game. Few boys hoping jacka gets up from the hamstring injury to play, and i know jacka is hoping to get up to play just as much....Karl if your reading this don't worry if it is a cold saturday, im sure the blanket will be there to warm you up! ;)

Will be intersting to see if 'Handshake' Jackas h/string will be strong enough to make the trip. Be disappointin if he doesnt i know the Jindera community were looking forward to welcoming their Assistant Coach.

Aside from that ill definitely be out there watching winners9, as its another chance to see 2 quality country footy sides against each other.

big match ups - Castles v Koehler, Nicholson v Duel, Jacka v Weldon(1sts) or v Hayes (2nds), Garland v Farrugia. just to name a few. Not sure if ill make the game yet droughtsey junior but see how work goes. should be an absolute cracker....could come down to the battle of the men running the bench....almond v styles...if this were real life styles would be all over the almond, like he is all over a waffle :thumbsu:

Funny Winners but lets try keep the chat on the football...who will stop howlongs gun Barnes, coming off 9 goals last week he could be a big player in this clash

my tips
Coly by a couple 5 to 7 goal better side at home

Jindera by about 4 or 5 goals- hard to tip against a side who hasn't been beat at home for 2 or 3 years and who has just beat Osborne @ Osborne
Culcairn by 4 or 5 goals
