A recommendation (by a consultant) will be made shortly to Sth NSW-AFL that the Hume League with some additional teams be split into 2 divisions. The power clubs / bigger towns in one comp (Osborne, Lockhart, Holbrook, Henty, Culcairn, Jindera, Thurgoona, Howlong, The Rock), and smaller clubs into the other (BB, Walla, Rand W, Billabong, Rennie, Berrigan, Jerilderie, Finley). Not too sure which of the two comps Coly, CDHBU, Magpies were to go in. Hay was also mentioned. A lot of merit in it, but I just can't see it panning out that way. Opinions anyone?
I've got mates running around in the 2's at R/W and Walla who live in Albury and i can't see them wanting to drive to Finley or Berrigan for a game in the 2's. Their more of a chance goin Upper Murray than these places and i can't see these clubs being rapt to play there either.

Spot on. Told the consultant he has no chance. Broke his heart.

The concept of it looks terrific but they have failed to grasp the fact that some many players are drawn from Albury and they won't travel out to the western comp.

not that i want to move from the tallangatta league but that set up would be enticing

You say that now, based on current form though Thurgoona wood get smashed every week by every1 xcept Henty (am unsure of how strong the Rock is?).

Really the NSW/ACT footy guru's made their decision two years ago letting Magpies in, then merging the other teams as well. If they want the league to strengthen, club people need to bite the bullet and merge some clubs. Pride is the biggest issue to overcome. Money, sponsors and bigger crowds (from combinations of towns) as well as a higher standard of footy would be the outcome. Will it happen, I doubt it.

Should I save my admission fee then Big Al for this weekend?

Should see where the Brookers are at one way or another. Reigning premier at home in traditional 'grudge' match will no doubt bring out both clubs best. Probably not a bad way to spend your Sat afternoon AD.

Can anyone tell me what the situation is with coaches for 2009. Most clubs would've talked to their coaches to see if they would be coaching again. Below is what I've heard.
Henty - reappointed
Culcairn - reappointed
RWT - Gilson taking over.
Howlong - 1st yr coach probably do it again.
Jindera - "
Lockhart - "
CDHBU - "
Rennie - "
Holbrook - would think job would be Manny's if he wants it.
Osborne - Hart for a 4th yr (nearly a record for the Cats)
Walla - time may be up.
BB Saints - "
Magpies - ?
Coly - ?
Billabong - ?

Anyone shed any light ?

i think it may be time for a change at walla also ap, they always seem to be in the middle of the road, too strong for the weaker teams eg magpies bb saints etc, but bot up with the bigger boys. lets hope the saints can get some one of a high profile who can bring pl ayers with him, they have been down for too long- time will tell.

No surprises today although jindera beat walla by alot more than i would have thought at the start of the day

Can tell you that I don't think the cup will be heading to either Culcairn or Holbrook. Lions (I know they have injuries) look very slow & their forward line is top heavy with no small crumbers. Holbrook are not quite there & probably were lucky to finish so close.
Manny Edmunds is all class & was BOG for mine.
Have to say the Holbrook presidents post match speech was in very poor taste.

i wouldnt write culcairn off, they will be there when the whips are cracking and i agree the brookers ere lucky to be that close as for manny he is a great footballer and a great bloke to suit,

Please expand....

Lets just say that Klemke was very humble in victory, while Ross was arrogant in defeat.
Wouldnt hurt him to look at the sportsmanship shown by Osbornes G. O'Connell after defeat. But I guess they would have to beat Osborne & I cant see that happening.

would u expect any different from holbrook though?

would u expect any different from holbro"ok though?

I think the Holb Pres words were a missed point at humour rather than arrogance HH, even if they came out poorly. Cul too good on the day no doubt but too write both Holbrook and Cul off maybe a bit premature considering both clubs have a few to come back in. Having said that for Holb to come from 9th(i think last year) too challenge for a top 3/4 spot is a fair effort considering not a lot of recruiting done, wouldn't you agree?

As for the "would u expect any different from holbrook though?" in regards to 'arrogance' comment where do you get that from, are you taking aim at players or the club in general? Interesting you only take a shot once Holbrook gets rolled
